It's not that bad. If you are an American, you can roll into there with little or no problems. I got by fine.

You could do worse; I'm not a fan of Dubai, because I think its all fake and there are much better places to see in the Middle East, but I wouldn't get worked up over possibly tortured there.

It's not out of fear, its out of principle.

Eh, Dictatorships can be fun. If you don't act like an idiot you'll be fine, plus you'll have some crazy stories to tell people.

I enjoyed Syria, for example. Iran was kind of a wacky place though.
