I hate them, too. When I was teaching school, I'd intentionally call them "Goober shoes." It royally pissed off all the girls in my fourth grade class. Some of them wouldn't speak to me for days.

I wore them once in public, to Coachella. They worked fine, didn't want to wear sandals, and it was too warm for shoes.

Now I only wear them to take the trash out or to get the mail.

Yeah, I know, they want to look ghetto. Although certain tatoo's in the mainstream, baggy pants, sideways hats, etc come from prison styles-I have only seen regular people wear crocs.

Well, we were on the topic of prison fashion.

Same with the shoes with the laces pulled out.. When the jail kicks your ass out before the property room opens you get stuck wandering around downtown with no laces, no belt.. just your clothes and your sideways hat...
