WTF is up with some songs costing $1.29.

Nuts, I've been out of the loop w/Itunes since I dropped internet at home. I've been looking forward to expanding my music library as well as test out some Star Trek Enterprise episodes.

The $1.29 songs have no digital rights associated with the file.

Am I the only one alive that does not own an Ipod?

I don't either. {embarrassed}

I do have a Philips player for the rare times I listen to music, usually when I'm out hammering rocks and finding fossils and crap.

I just use my TomTom in my car.

I'm glad I never fell for the iPod trend. I still listen to my music the old fashioned way...on the radio. Lord knows how much money I've saved by not being in with the "in" crowd.

You have indeed saved a great deal of money. OTOH, those of us who have Ipods and XM Sirius never have to listen to insipid commercials, and we listen to the music we want to listen to. Moreover, I've heard numerous artists on XM I would have never discovered on terrestrial commercial radio, which plays the same crap over and over again. Then I go to Itunes and purchase their music. Good deal for both of us. :))

I'm just not that into music or talk radio. I listen for the "noise." It makes boring quietness into something bearable. It breaks up the monotony.

I've only rented a car that had Sirius installed, but I went through it thoroughly and found it could suit just about anyone's palate. If you ever try it, you might find a station or two where you'd keep it. I may get it for myself sometime soon.

Some XM stations have commercials these days.

Actually, itunes changed the pricing structure. ALL songs now have the DRM removed, and the songs are priced at $1.29 (read, any new and/or popular songs) $0.99 and $0.69 (which i've yet to find).

I don't have, and never plan to have, an iPod. I used to use iTunes as my music player, but it is a major resource hog and not worth it. You should download your songs from Amazon. They have never had rights protection BS, you pay no sales tax (in most areas), and you don't need iTunes {thumbsup}. I think Amazon raised the prices on some of their music like iTunes has, but not as many. Most are still $0.99, even the most downloaded ones. Amazon always has some entire albums for $5. I got Tom Petty's Greatest Hits for $5, something like 17 songs. And the songs play on any device, not the stupid iTunes AAC format.

Don't buy it to soon. The programing and production quality has turned to shit as of late. I am considering canceling XM.

I've never paid my own money for a song download (though a few summers ago CO had a deal where you got a handful of free iTunes downloads for every flight you bought. It just so happened I was in a very busy flying period at that time. Thanks CO for building my repertoire) but I do pay for XM since buying this last car. Good stuff. Especially the NHL hockey and MLB baseball, helps me track my Pens and Pirates.

I'd give mad bonus points though if they would play an artist called the Clarks. I miss being in Pittsburgh and being able to hear them on Terrestrial radio.
I'm baaaaaaack.

I dont own an ipod.
All my itunes music was free thanks to my aunt who thinks an itunes gift card is good for any occasion.
I remove the protection myself from the imusic and play my songs on whatever I want.

Works out well. I use the program but dont tie up my own money in it and dont deal with their protections.

AFAIK, the record industry pushed through this sort of pricing in exchange for the removal of DRM.

Well, the $0.69 songs DO exist, though it basically applies to songs that I wouldn't even want to download illegally {crazy} .

Nope. I have never felt the need to own any type of mp3 player.
A million great ideas...
