Would you drink this?

Everything that would not belong anywhere else.

Lately I've had this crazy idea about wanting to drink some of the old original Coke that was made before the New Coke and Coke Classic came out. So I found this:

"COCA COLA 4 BOTTLES FROM 1982 w ORIGINAL CONTENT"

http://cgi.ebay.com/COCA-COLA-4-BOTTLES-FROM-1982-w-ORIGINAL-CONTENT_W0QQitemZ320379717433QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4a981e8739&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1205|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A3|294%3A50

Think it's still good? Think it would have fermented after nearly 30 years into something toxic? Would it be like fine wine and get sweeter with the years?

Unless it was kept in a 40 degree cooler in utter blackness for 27 years, my guess is that it has fermented.

I would never eat/drink anything from Ebay. Never know what some wacko might have spiked it with.

I think they're intended to be more of a collectable than to actually be consumed.
A million great ideas...

I don't think your experiment would get the intended result.

The stuff is almost as old as I am.. It doesn't taste like it did the day it went into the bottle. Chances are its pretty nasty. Even if it hasn't grown bacteria I can't imagine drinking it being a terribly good idea.

Seriously though, the Coke over here is made with real sugar, so if you really want some, I could send you a can or two. The only difference is CocaCola is in Arabic on the can.

Hell, here in SAT they have the Mexican coke made with real sugar.. I am sure they must have it out in the windswept wasteland parts of the state where Queso lives.

I forgot about the Mexican cokes. Those are with real sugar, good as hell to drink too. I always wash down my tacos I get around LA with either a Mexican coke or a Dos Equis.

Good stuff.

OK, looks like the consensus overwhelming majority think it would not be good to rink it. Why? People drink wines that are much older. It's in glass and the lid is lined on the inside so it's not like the container has rusted. And while it's true that you can get Coke with real sugar, some people still say the recipe of Coke Classic is still not the same as the original.

Actually.. Past a certain amount of time in the bottle wine can get rather suspect if not properly stored. That is part of why more wine producers are going away from real corks. Also, wine DOES have a limited life in the bottle.

Also, wine is typically in a dark bottle to prevent light damage to the contents. Along with the cork wine has a lead seal to further prevent air leakage

After 20 years I can assure you the bottle top has leaked a little.

If you really want to give it a try I am not going to stop you.. But at the same time I am not gonna join you for a 20 something year old coke.

My {twocents} - stick w/only the things you know that age well - for some people that includes wine; there's also cheese (which, I hear, the more it stinks, the better it is {crazy} ). Coke, though - nay. I got some Topps baseball cards in some old waxpacks that I opened - I then tried the gum which tasted like paper and dissolved in my mouth. Some stuff's not meant to last.
