So I went to the range today.

Everything that would not belong anywhere else.

After work last night a bunch of us had to go to the range and decide who was going to go to a statewide shooting competition, as well as practice. So 4 hours on the range doing things most of us had never done before or do very infrequently taught us a lot. {shooting}

-Glock Perfection = Malfing every third round. Out of a whole mess of Glock 35s almost every one of them jammed tight at least once.. One even needed to be disassembled to clear it. Admittedly, most of this was magazine related. I guess we forgot to store them in sand, or in a bucket of salt water. (I wanted a stir the pot smiley so bad)

-Blazer aluminum case ammo SUCKS! I was running through a couple boxes of this shit to get out of my stash. It seemed to me it shot ridiculously low and left compared to my other groupings with Speer and Winchester duty ammo, and Winchester white box... I had the same problem with Blazer in .45ACP with another gun.. I thought it was strange. I guess I should stay away from it, no matter how cheap it is. To the defense of this crap.. It did go bang every time I pulled the trigger and it didn't hang up in quality weapons.

-Most of our shooting was small bullseyes from the 25yd line.. I need to work on that. I would post targets, but it was embarassing.

-I can still score in the 90% range on any given 50rnd qualification course. (sprays on self-gloss)

-The Famous El Presidente. It is on the course of fire but none of us knew how the hell to score it.

For those not in the know.. It is sitting at a table.. weapon and spare mag on the table with 6 rounds in each. At the beep you drill 3 targets 4 feet apart with 2 rounds a piece, reload, and repeat.

My best time was 10 hits in 8 seconds.. Whatever the hell that means. It was too hot to google it on the phone at the range.

-We also found the higher in the sky that glowing ball got the worse our scores got. it was showing 95 degrees on the range when we left. Screw that, most of us work nights for a reason.

I dropped my G17 in a puddle last week to show it goes "BANG" when you pull the trigger even after being submerged...

Glocks are great guns... Don't have a 35 but a 34, it shoots like a dream.

I just got back from the range, too.

I'm not even going to touch that one, I'll let your comments stand on their own good merits. {mischief}

Well, in some guns it does. Actually, if you look at the ammo it's VERY consistent and that's what makes accuracy. I've never, ever had any problem with it in any of my Sigs.

Like I was saying... :))

It's a PITA to score it the "official" IDPA way, I think that's why everybody scores it differently when they're just shooting informally. It's OK for an organized match though. I'm like you, I'd have to Google it to remember the official way to score it.

I know what you mean, it's 93 here right now and a bit more humid than normal, but I'm sure it's not as humid as it is down there.

Glad you got in a little trigger time!

Never had a problem with my Glock 22 . . . frozen, iced, wet, whatever. The only time it doesn't shoot is if I keep my finger off the trigger or we're inducing the stoppage for practice . . . you know those damned empty shell casings slipped into your magazine by the instructor. {grumpy}

ElPresidente is a cool exercise. I don't know how to score it either, but it has to do with accuracy of the round and the time it takes to engage all three targets. I could use some practice at that. We did it at the range a month ago.

And yes. Blazer ammo SUCKS.

I am glad to report I missed a max score on the LEA Qual course (pistol) by 2 points. Damned round went high and left at the 25 yard line. {grumpy} {whiteflag}

What was it you were shooting in BHM that didn't like Wolf? Wasn't it also that Para?

Ha.. Just got back from the shooting center too. Blasted 100 rounds of .223 out of my AR. The ammo had more of a burning smell than I recalled. Maybe that was just left over gun lube.

The range wanted 13.95 for a 20 of PMC. Glad I got a 1000 of it a couple of months ago for 370 delivered.

The same. The gun is real picky but when you shoot the ammo It likes it is an awesome gun.

It was nice to get back to the range.. I had been having a hell of a time coming up with ammo.. Luckily I wasn't buying most of it.

Oh well, I guess Blazer works for some guns. I won't be buying any more of it.. Which is too bad, it is the last reasonable priced ammo left out there right now. I guess I see why though.
