Gore Alcolyte - Climate Change Brought Down AF 447

Everything that would not belong anywhere else.

As the investigation continues as to what brought down the French airliner over the Atlantic Ocean with 228 people on board, a Russian climatologist believes global warming played a significant part.

For even the most experienced pilots, flying over the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is oftentimes a white-knuckle affair.

The ITC zone is a constantly fluctuating band that is located between 5º north and 5º south of the equator. It produces some of the heaviest precipitation on the planet, as well as the bumpiest airplane rides.

This meteorologically active region, which gives off a constant vertical updraft of air along its path, was known to sailors as ‘the doldrums’ due to the absence of any refreshing breeze. But for passengers on an airplane traveling over the ITCZ, the sensation can be much different.

BS Story

Now I have heard it all... {crazy}
And let's get one thing straight. There's a big difference between a pilot and an aviator. One is a technician; the other is an artist in love with flight. — E. B. Jeppesen

Hmm, I would like to know exactly who this "Russian Climatologist" is, as the majority of them over there do not buy into AGW like our cash strapped college professors climatologists do. I guess he doesn't want his Moskva condo getting a visit from the OMON or something like that since he didn't provide his name.

Oh wait, looks who is making the claim:
"“A consequence of global warming is that the frequency and severity of such events (severe weather conditions) is higher,” Aleksey Kokorin, head of Russia’s World Wildlife Fund’s Climate Program, told RT. “Unfortunately, the risk for airplanes, especially in tropical areas above water, will be higher. This could be difficult for pilots to understand.”"
In other words "We need more money, so we made up some BS Theory saying that AGW brought down a plane. " As for "This could be difficult for pilots to understand? Come one, an Airline Pilot should have some knowledge on how weather systems work! From how this article is worded, this sounds more closer to the lines of supermarket tabloid gossip to bring people to the site.

Looks like somebody has decided to get their five seconds of fame. There could in theory be a link, but realistically, this guy is just taking advantage of a tragic event to help him gain some exposure - that's really, really low IMO {redflag}

We knew it was coming. I blame space junk reentering our atmosphere.

I blame Bush. He never liked the French. ;)

My historical ancestors were French, but even so I'm not particularly keen on them

A typically shameful attempt by the green movement to gain unwarranted publicity, IMHO. They could have at least waited until the families have had some closure before jumping on the bandwagon. Shame on them {grumpy}

Wouldn't the smell of the Manx, or perhaps the pungent must of those Scots drifting down overpower the French up in Blackpool? ;)
