Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson has had a program on a few Saturdays this summer called Night Wings. They keep the museum open late so you can see the airplanes at night. I went at the end of June before I moved and it was great! I should have posted something sooner so others could have planned to go. The last one of the summer is next Saturday, August 24. I recommend going.

Admission is $10 after 4pm. Take care once the sun sets because the cable tie downs for the planes are hard to see and you wouldn't want to trip over one.

Here is the B-36 in the nice Arizona sunset light.

I have other photos from that night I still need to process.

NIGHT WINGS 3
August 24
5PM - 9PM

Enjoy the museum in the cool evening. From 5:00pm until sundown there will be trams ($4pp) giving tours of the outdoor aircraft. All hangars will be open until 9:00pm with hands on activities for kids in each hangar. The Flight Grill will be open for dinner.

The Physics Factory will be here doing their amazing demonstrations throughout the night.

Admission after 4:00pm will be $10 for adults and children 12 and under are free. Members are always free. Last admission will be at 8:00pm

I love that B-36, it's even better than the one at Wright-Patterson IMO. I also love their B-58...still the baddest looking jet ever built, again IMO. Also, I had never seen a Beech Starship and was awed by one of my two favorite GA turboprops. We went there in July 2 years ago and just about melted into the ground. Still, a great museum and with the addition of Air Force bone yard tour, a really great experience. Glad you got to do it at night. Do they light up the aircraft or is the only light provided by security lights around the perimeter?
What's the point of an open door policy if inside the open door sits a closed mind?

They only had one light stand near where the guided tour tram left. Everything else was unlit. Unfortunately the moon was not high in the sky that night. If it was, it would have been possible to get some cool moonlit shots with a long exposure.

What the... {bugeye}

Dude, is the museum THAT good?!
Einstein said two things were infinite; the universe, and stupidity. He wasn't sure about the first, but he was certain about the second.

I'd be all over very little natural light.

Yeah, the list of aircraft they have is incredible. Some of the outdoor ones are in better shape than others. I was just there 10 days ago and have been slowly uploading some of the shots. There are so many, I think I may only do a dozen or so total though.
