After May 28, only A-List Preferred elite members and those traveling on Business Select fares will receive two free checked bags.

A-List elite members, credit card holders and "other select Customers" will receive one free checked bag, and all remaining customers will need to pay for their checked bags.

When I was flying the DEN-ABQ route, I'd most often fly WN as it was less expensive than UA. I'd usually grab a Wanna Get Away fare, pay for Early-Bird check-in, and the result almost always was under what UA was charging.

I don't have to make that trip now, but if I did, I'd probably just go UA, depending on schedule.

Some say Herb's WN died a long time ago. Perhaps, but there is no doubt that it's dead now. There's nothing unique about it anymore.

It does feel as though all their uniqueness is being taken away to make them the same as any other carrier

So... Who do we think is going to buy them?

It does seem like they are being fattened up for market.

I heard rumors of JetBlue, but I can't see that happening, mainly due to the aircraft. JetBlue/Spirit or Frontier always made more sense, but we're unlikely to see either of those. I don't think Alaska Air Group us hungry for another airline, though it would make some sense from an equipment standpoint. I seriously doubt it would pass regulatory approval, though.

My prediction is that it remains independent for quite a while. I can see the Hawaii operation going away in a few years. Unless Boeing gets it's act together soon (like by the end of the year), I see WN going for A220s to replace the 737-700s. If I were in the C-Suite, I'd given Boeing it's "Dear John" letter long ago.
