GE Aviation marks the end of CF6-80E1 engine production
GE Aviation delivered its last CF6-80E1 production engine to China Airlines, bound to power the airline’s Airbus A330 fleet. “China Airlines and GE Aviation have worked together for many years, and we are privileged to deliver the final CF6-80E1 engine to them,” CF6 General Manager at GE Aviation, Mike Kauffman, announced in a statement. China Airlines have operated with CF6 engines for about 20 years, with the CF6-80C2 and CF6-80E1-engines powering the airline’s fleet.

Boeing will require all employees to be vaccinated
Boeing management told its U.S. employees in an internal message Tuesday that with limited exceptions they must be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Dec. 8 or face termination.
“Compliance with these requirements is a condition of employment,” states a Boeing internal presentation viewed by The Seattle Times. “Employees who are unable to meet these requirements, and do not have an approved accommodation, by December 8 may be released from the company.”

Air Canada announces additional flights to India including Montreal – Delhi
Air Canada announced today a strategic expansion of its India services, with additional flights from Toronto, and a new year-round, nonstop route between Montreal and Delhi.
Starting October 31, just in time for Diwali celebrations, Air Canada will offer three flights per week to the growing Indian community in Montreal. Additionally, the airline is increasing frequency to Delhi from Toronto to ten flights per week beginning Oct. 15.

Delta reports third quarter pre-tax income of $216 million, adds 2 more A350-900s
Delta Air Lines today reported financial results for the third quarter 2021 and provided its outlook for the fourth quarter 2021.
“Our September quarter marked an important milestone in our recovery, with our first quarterly profit since the start of the pandemic,” said Ed Bastian, Delta’s chief executive officer. “Our revenues reached two-thirds of 2019 levels thanks to the industry-leading operational performance our people delivered through a busy summer, once again showing why they are the best in the business.”

Singapore Airlines launches seasonal flights to Seattle/Tacoma and Vancouver, adds San Francisco to vaccinated Travel Lane network
Singapore Airlines (SIA) is launching four-times weekly seasonal services to Vancouver, Canada and Seattle/Tacoma, the United States of America (USA), from December 2, 2021 to February 15, 2022. Two of the weekly Seattle-Vancouver-Singapore flights will operate as Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) services, providing eligible customers quarantine-free entry into Singapore.

Virgin Australia expands its domestic network
Virgin Australia continues to expand its domestic network launching three new services in time for summer holidays, including the first commercial service linking Launceston and the Gold Coast in more than two decades.
Scheduled to take off in early December, the three new routes will allow over 19,000 additional passengers to fly each month between Gold Coast, Hobart and Launceston, providing a boost to local business and the tourism sector and allowing more Virgin Australia team members to return to the skies.

Air New Zealand heads back to Vancouver, converts a 787 to a vaccination clinic called “Jabaseat”
Air New Zealand has secured a further five months of support for cargo flights under the Government’s extended Maintaining International Air Connectivity (MIAC) scheme, with Vancouver being added to the mix.
With the MIAC scheme now extended from November 1, 2021 through to March 31, 2022, the scheme will ensure additional and much-needed air freight capacity is available over the summer peak so high value New Zealand goods can get to market.

Danske launches Drop Zone at Belfast City Airport departures lounge
A new digital hub, sponsored by Danske Bank, has opened at George Best Belfast City Airport (BHD) to help business and leisure travellers stay connected.
The Drop Zone, located in the airport’s departures lounge, offers passengers the chance to have a seat while charging their phones, tablets, and laptops and using the airport’s free Wi-Fi.

Bicol International Airport starts commercial operations
On 8 October 2021, Bicol International Airport (BIA) started its first commercial operations, after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Transportation Secretary, Art Tugade, inaugurated the international airport just a day before on 7 October 2021.
Despite the several unforeseen mishaps and delays during the infrastructure project including, COVID-19 and typhoon and hurricane interruptions, Secretary Tugade commented that BIA has “planted a seed for international connectivity and convenience. Not only national and domestic but international as well.”

Heathrow urges for a SAF mandate at COP26 to reduce aviation emissions
Passenger numbers at Heathrow Airport (LHR) remained at just under 40 per cent of pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels in September, whilst EU rivals enjoyed stronger resurgence over summer. North American traffic is only 25 per cent of 2019 levels. Cargo, which is carried in the hold of passenger planes, was close to eight per cent down by volume on 2019, reflecting the way in which travel restrictions have been damaging UK exports and supply chains.
