Wreckage from TWA flight 800 wich crashed 25 years ago will be destroyed
For nearly 20 years, a haunting relic of one of the worst aviation disasters in U.S. history has been tucked away in a cavernous warehouse in Northern Virginia.
The fuselage of the Boeing 747, painstakingly reassembled from nearly 1,600 pieces plucked from the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, is a macabre jigsaw puzzle of wires and burned, twisted metal. But it is all that remains of Trans World Airlines’ Flight 800, the Paris-bound jetliner that crashed shortly after takeoff from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport 25 years ago Saturday killing all 230 people onboard.

Boeing reports its second quarter results
The Boeing Company reported second-quarter revenue of $17.0 billion, driven by higher commercial airplanes and services volume. GAAP earnings per share of $1.00 and core earnings per share (non-GAAP)* of $0.40 primarily reflects higher commercial volume and lower period costs (Table 1). Boeing recorded operating cash flow of ($0.5) billion.

Spirit Airlines loses $287.9 million in the second quarter, will fly to Tegucigalpa

Allegiant reports a profit in the second quarter
“The second quarter marked the return of leisure demand to pre-pandemic levels,” stated Maurice J. Gallagher, Jr., chairman and CEO of Allegiant Travel Company. “Earnings per share came in at $5.49 on a year over two-year revenue decline of just 3.9 percent, with total revenue in June exceeding 2019 levels. We made significant progress towards achieving pre-pandemic unit revenues with TRASM of 10.36 cents (on a load factor of 70.8 percent), up 50 percent from the first quarter.

European Commission approves state aid to Condor, Condor to resume flights to Canada
The European Commission has found an aid package by Germany in favor of the airline Condor to be in line with EU State aid rules. The approval of the aid package, based on three separate Commission’s decisions, relates to two measures to compensate Condor for damages suffered as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, worth in total €204.1 million, and €321.2 million of restructuring support to enable Condor’s return to viability.

Akasa Air: India’s new ultra low cost airline?

Alitalia’s successor ITA to increase capital by €700 million
The new state-owned Italian air carrier Italia Transporto Aereo (ITA), which is about to proceed to active operations, received its shareholders’ approval for the increase of the company’s capital by €700 million.
On July 28, 2021, the shareholders of Alitalia's successor gave a green light to enlarge the airline‘s capital by €700 million, as was proposed by ITA’s Board of Directors. The move allows the new Italian airline to proceed forward to its awaited launch which is scheduled to happen on October 15, 2021.

Long time no see: SIA A380 Superjumbo takes off to skies from storage
A Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 wide-body was spotted taking off from Alice Springs. The sight has ignited the Superjumbo lovers’ hopes to fly the double-decker again, once it is returned to active service.
The Airbus A380 aircraft, registered as 9V-SKW, departed from Alice Springs (ASP), Australia, on July 28, 2021, at around 11.23 a. m (UTC). After more than a three-hour-long flight, it landed at New South Wales (NSW), the Flightradar24.com data shows. The almost 4-year-old wide-body jet was put in storage at Alice Springs in April 2020 due to a pandemic and has never taken off since, Radarbox.com data shows.

Bezos and Richard Branson, not yet astronauts according to new FAA rules
The US has tightened its definition of the word “astronaut”.
New Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules say astronaut hopefuls must be part of the flight crew and make contributions to space flight safety.
That means Jeff Bezos and Sir Richard Branson may not yet be astronauts in the eyes of the US government.
These are the first changes since the FAA wings programme began in 2004.
