Over the past week, I've noticed that DL has increased the number of flights from MSP to PHX. They're popping off six A333's a day right now.

Not really.

Additional cargo requirement possibly? There are widebodies popping up on all sorts of unusual shorter routes where the surge in freight volumes means the hold is paying far better than the cabin.
A million great ideas...

6X A333's is good competition to AA MSP-PHX which has 1X A321 and 1X A320 and that may have something to do with the up gauge in equipment along with cargo demand.
