I hope this is not the beginning of the end of aircraft manufacturing in Belfast.

I highly doubt it. Spirit account for around a third of supplier approvals made by Airbus in the last year. Far from ending manufacturing, they appear to have ambitions of becoming a final production line supplier, a group which to date has only included the primary manufacturers (BAe, Aerospatiale, Daimler-Benz etc., and latterly Bombardier), engine suppliers and landing gear specialists. They've also acquired a vast array of manufacturing equipment outside of acquisition of the two main Bombardier sites.

It's a seriously bold move and a real statement of intent. Hopefully the Belfast economy will see the benefits after years of uncertainty and decline in manufacturing.
A million great ideas...

I really hope it does go well, and secures jobs in Belfast, and maybe bring more work in.

Say it quietly but there is strong talk of whole wing assemblies for not only the A220 line but also the A32X line being produced in Belfast in the not-too-distant future...
A million great ideas...
