Greetings earthlings.Today there's something special for our resident Lego master, AndesSMF. Hope you all enjoy!! :) :)

Festo's robotic penguins are bionic, cuter than Man from Atlantis

Image

"Nothing like the robotic penguins we've covered in the past, german robotic company Festo's aqua penguins must surely get the prize for most awe-inspiring robot of 2009. Although the head shape is more redolent of a shark than a penguin, these life-size bionic birds are absolutely incredible."

Artist Sara Watson turns her old Skoda Fabia into an 'invisible car'

Image

"It's a familiar feeling - you park your car, head to the shops and on your return you forget where you left it.
But art student Sara Watson could be forgiven for such a lapse - because she has created an invisible car.
The University of Central Lancashire artist made the incredible optical illusion by spray painting a battered Skoda Fabia to match the car park and entrance to her art studio."

Lego Space Timeline

"Get ready for a trip to the past that rivals the visit to Lego's secret vault: All the Lego Space sets ever released in one single place, gallery after gallery of childhood memories."

"Blumenau" Model Train Set

Image

"Sneak your toys to work in style with this Blumenau Model Train Set, which squeezes a locomotive, two carriages and a summer landscape with tunnel into an aluminum Noch briefcase."

A bargain for about $1,500

30 Classic PC Games That Still Rule

Image

"Though the inequality between gaming styles across PCs and dedicated consoles has balanced somewhat, it can still be seen. Here are some of the games we liked best, many available for free and legal download as abandon-ware at sites like Abandonia."

I love the 'invisible Skoda' - it beats the mandatory painting of footprints/tyre tracks up the side of the UCLAN art block every year.

I'm ashamed to admit that I actually owned several of the Lego space sets, though I was a child so I have an excuse ;)
A million great ideas...

I need that train set, but not for that ungodly price. Holy crap.

I sent the link to my dad, and he's currently pricing the raw materials. :))
My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

That Skoda looks totally unreal.

Thanks for the Lego link, though I never bothered with space stuff...
Einstein said two things were infinite; the universe, and stupidity. He wasn't sure about the first, but he was certain about the second.

One of they key reasons this set is so expensive is it is in Z scale which is the smallest commercially available scale. It is also one of the most expensive putting even some larger scale items to shame. For example. An HO (1:87) scale version of an Amtrak Superliner train with 1 locomotive and 3 Superliner cars runs about $200-250, the same train in Z is close to $600. Couple with the fact that the trains and scenery are from one of the most expensive model railroad companies, it makes for one expensive toy. That said, if I had $1500 to blow, id look at it , now if you'll excuse me, im going to go play engineer in my basement. :))

Sara Watson has too much time on her hands.

And in O (1:48) that $200 HO/$600 Z runs about $1000 last I checked...

And takes up your whole basement to have a proper layout to run it on...

The wife-to-be can't figure out why I am so insistent on a full basement in the new house. :))
I'm baaaaaaack.

If I ever got into railroad modelling, I'd go for the modern freight look like this.

My dad, and to a lesser extent I, have a huge collection of O stuff... but currently it all sits on shelves or in boxes because neither of us have anything set up to run it. Dad used to spend a ton of money on the stuff though.
I'm baaaaaaack.
