Since when is the Ford Taurus SHO said "Ford Taurus Show" as opposed to "S-H-O?" I think it sounds quite hokey but I've heard it now on a plethora of TV ads, especially while watching football.

And that said, I hope they were smart enough to put a suspension under it that is worthy of the speeds the vehicle can attain with that engine.

We always called it "SHmO".

That's because Ford is calling it that. Who knows...when I went to a dealer a few weeks ago to inquire about a test drive, I said S-H-O. They knew what I was talking about, and honestly, I'm willing to bet eventually they'll stop calling it 'show' and go back to S-H-O.

Why the hate? In the early 90s, nothing could touch it. One supposes you can thank the SHO for your Pontiac, since it did launch the family sports sedan market in the US of A.

EDIT- And yes...that was mine. '91...best year for the SHO if you ask me. Sold it spring of 2008. I miss that car some days...and others...I don't.

My dad used to have that car ^ in red. I was only like 6 though so I don't remember how it was performance wise. It was really nice though, 5 speed, nice interior. I'm glad to see it back, whatever it's called. I like SHO too. It stands for "Super High Output" so I don't understand the "Show" part. Still cool.

No hate, I own Fords too, ya know. It was an endearing term. Remember though, the sports sedan was rather lackluster until Chevrolet did it right when they launched the Impala SS in 1994. And technically, the Citation X-11 was available in a notchback performance version as far back as 1981!

If you (not your father) owned one, it was Shit Happens Often. But I'll give it this- I never EVER had any issue with the engine itself. Mine had over 200,000 miles on it, and I NEVER had to touch the rod bearings or the crankshaft (two known problems with the Yamahamer V6). Every sensor under that hood had been replaced at least once, same with the PCU. Two fuel pumps. Two radiators. Tranny seals, power stearing seals, brakes, brake lines, suspension, headlights, fog lights, fog light wiring. Oh I could go on...but you get the jist. The engine was awesome...it was the Ford crap around it that let the name SHO down.

Hey man, that ain't no Pinto! The fuel tank is in front of the rear axle on that car. I almost have the Citation I drove in high school ready for a road trip now.

Besides, with the fold-down rear seat two adults (or teenagers) can stretch out quite comfortably in the back of it and look out the hatchback at the stars. Try that in the back of a SHO!

Oh F that...I had a full size back seat. And as a teenager...like I...and she...gave a damn about the stars. Of course...I always wondered why my suspension sucked.

Tornado...if you were looking to test drive one for shits and giggles, Kings Ford and Saunders (sp?) Ford are the only two dealers in the Tri-State area that I know of that have the SHO.

Just saw the ad on TV. It's badged SHO, but the announcer pronounces it "Show." To think, people actually get paid to make decisions like this!?

My friends and I always called it a Show. Back in the day it was the fastest 4 door you could get without going German and spending twice as much. Never thought of it being a "show" though, just an easy way of referring to it. Like Stang for Mustang or Vett for Corvette.

Of course...another selling point they always attempted to make was that you could seat 4 adult males in it, with clubs in the trunk, and go for a round of golf. Couldn't do that in a Mustang. Not sure how you'd pull off for club bags in the boot, but I digress. The back seat was decent, but there wasn't miles of leg room either. IIRC, my '91 was almost a foot shorter than my mother's old '92 Sable. Not sure how, considering they used the same frame/unibody.
