I guess I'm left wondering, why does Delta run 757's from Atlanta to Savannah, Charleston, Jacksonville, Louisville, and Raleigh-Durham? I find it hard to believe that they are running full all the time unless they've cut the actual number of flights per day to these cities. Although, in fairness, I can remember when i was stationed in Savannah, Delta ran a DC-8 between Savannah and Atlanta. Just seems like a waste of resources and unnecessary cycles on aircraft that aren't getting any younger. The table is in the article and give frequency as well. It's not all day every day, nor every day for that matter, but just odd.

I've been on the Atlanta <-> Raleigh turnaround probably a dozen times in the last 18 months, and those flights have been at 100% every time. Anecdotally, every single time I've flown that route, it's always been the same 757-200 that's flown me from SNA to ATL, and that has also always been full.

What types are competitors flying on the same routes? I have to imagine the load and revenue makes sense.

On UA out of IAD, similar distance to RDU, it's a complete mix of A319-320 and 737-700 and 800. Out of LAX to LAS on UA it's a mix of 737-8 and 737-9.

I remember a time when ATL-BHM was served by 757s and even occasionally 767.

134 miles on that route.

I remember more than a few times flying CMH-CVG on a 757.

Cruise Lines. Carnival sails out of CHS and JAX.

Can't help you with SDF or RDU. RDU perhaps because of the Research Triangle. Only thing I can think of.
