I've been hearing about many Russian aircraft which have been shot down in Ukraine bearing no country markings, just a simple "Z" on some of them. Interestingly enough, I was watching this ABC news video showing military hardware being delivered by a C-17 which had some interesting markings which look American-ish (screenshots, fair-use, video below):

I am surprised by this, wondering if it is indeed a US C-17 (which I fully expect it is), and I wouldn't think they would actually take US ID off a plane unless it was something like the CIA U-2 and A-12 flights back in the 60's

Where was this supposedly taken I am confused. It looks fake to my eyes anyway.
Date on the video is Feb 13th, yet the report seems to suggest this is a very recent arrival

Zoom in on the nose lettering, SAC HEAVY AIRLIFT WING, it does not line up properly, not even close, somebody has been photoshopping again, well that`s what I think, it`s probably stock footage that has been tweaked.

I stand corrected, I found some photos of this aircraft at RIAT RAF Fairford UK 2019

I still think the lettering looks wonky, and the date of the footage does seem misleading in regards to the news item.

SAC, established in 2008, is an independent, multinational program that provides the capability of transporting equipment and personnel over long distances to its 12 member nations by owning and operating three Boeing C-17 Globemaster III long range cargo aircraft. The SAC is based at the Hungarian Defence Forces Pápa Air Base in Western Hungary. Each participating nation owns a share of the available flight hours of the SAC C-17's that can be used for missions to serve the needs of their national defense, NATO, EU or UN commitments as well as humanitarian relief efforts.
