So I got the damned thing. Question, is the 787 a default airplane? My version doesn't have it. I got the high end version, before you ask.

Yes. Check the "Content Manager" under "Profile" to see if it's installed. Some versions for some people have had issues with default content not appearing/disappearing because for some reason it gets uninstalled when an update is applied.

Also make sure you're running the latest version. No clue as to the version number because it's ridiculously long, but if you haven't launched the sim since Sunday, there's a new one for you. That might fix things for you. Or maybe make things worse.

That worked fine, thanks for the tip.

Some strange things seen whilst over Greenland:

It's not "uncommon" to see some minor elevation errors. However, these "errors" reached all the way to FL290. I had to deviate to avoid hitting them.

Also noted whilst over the interior is that terrain was only rendered in a small area around me, much like the grand ol' days of FS98.

I am loving the game! NeoFly is awesome and I've been doing bush trips all around Idaho. The mapping system for the sim actions leaves much to be desired.

The company I started working for offered the option to work from home. To do it was going to require purchasing a desktop with either 2 smaller or one large monitor. Took the opportunity to buy a pumped up desktop and a 27 inch monitor. No ulterior motive there... :)) Bought the game straight out of MS and have been fiddling around with it all afternoon. Still trying to figure my way out of the training flights but I have to say the scenery and interiors of the aircraft are superb compared to what I was used to. Well worth the money spent. Went with the middle of the road deluxe version version more because I wanted the DA60 than anything else. I enjoy the GA flying much more than airline. So far I haven't been disappointed but I wish there was a downloadable key assignment sheet. I also can't seem to figure out if you can assign your own call sign. Also, the sound controls to increase the aural alerts. But as I said, it's only the first day. I'm patient and it's a big program to get used too.
What's the point of an open door policy if inside the open door sits a closed mind?

So I've been flying around the northeastern U.S. the past couple of days in the DA60. Slowly but surely getting used to the controls. I read up thread that the autopilot needed some work and ain't that the truth! It's probably been the hardest thing to master, especially the vertical speed control. You can get way out of whack if you don't stay on top of it.

Is there anyway to do away with the ever present push crew? Today it was just straight ahead and make a left to get on the taxi line. I tried everything I could think of, and then just beheaded the guy on the pushback with the left wing as I pin wheeled out of the taxi stand.

The scenery is still fine by me although I too have seen some big rock monoliths standing out in the middle of nowhere.

My other half surprised the hell out of me for Christmas with a RealSimGear Garmin g1000 unit. Such a great experience using the unit and not have to try fussing with virtual knobs in turbulence.

I just tried VR for the first time today. Just a short flight from Kona to Hilo over the saddle in the DA62, my new favorite plane. Wow Wow Wow! Talk about an immersive experience! I felt like I was actually sitting in the cockpit. Being able to look around brought the game to a whole new level. The only problem with VR was I found myself reaching out into thin air to touch a cockpit that wasn't really there.
Look, it's been swell, but the swelling's gone down.
