AirlinesIndia’s Air Costa expands nationwide networkIndian regional low-cost carrier (LCC) Air Costa has outlined expansion plans to offer a nationwide network by the end of October. The Vijaywada-based carrier is currently limited to India’s southern region services. Air Costa CEO KN Babu said the carrier has applied to the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to upgrade its air operator’s certificate (AOC) to national carrier status and “expects [permission] to come through by the end of October.”

American experienced hundreds of delays as it stopped takeoffs to Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago O'Hare and Miami airports for nearly two hours. The carrier has fixed the technical problems, which it said were caused by "connectivity issues," that started at noon Eastern, a company spokesman said. International flights and service on US Airways were not affected.

The LCC will introduce 3X-weekly Airbus A320 service from Ninoy Aquino International, Manila to Fukuoka on the Japanese route, currently only served by Philippine Airlines. The Cebu-Mactan International-Taoyuan (Taipei) service will also use the A320 on a 3X-weekly service, and will be the first regularly scheduled service between the two cities.

The airline also will change the profit-sharing formula in a way that could boost payouts after lean years but might reduce them after highly profitable years such as 2014. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which is trying organize Delta flight attendants, said raises were overdue and left Delta employees below industry-leading pay.

The funds will be used largely for capital expenditure, fleet investment and refinancing as necessary. Etihad Airways, Etihad Airport Services, airberlin and Alitalia will receive 20% each, with 16% going to Jet Airways; and the remainder to Air Serbia and Air Seychelles.
