A Colorado man's vacation turned anything but typical after a mountain lion attack.

When you take a trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, pictures usually mark your memories.

But for Dustin Britton, it's a chainsaw.

He and his family were camping in northwest Wyoming over the weekend.

While he was cutting down a tree about 100 yards away from the campsite when he saw a 100 pound mountain lion about 20 feet away.
Dustin says, “Once it got in the open, then it came at me pretty quickly. Once it was 10 feet or so away from me, it broke into a full run. It lunged at me. Its head was right here.”

And people out here (in Ohio) wonder why I say I'd rather come across a bear in the woods than a mountain lion. Why? A bear, 9 times out of 10, will run away, especially if you aren't stupid and hiking in berry country in the spring. A mountain lion? Well...it all depends. What mood is it in? Is it hungry? Did you somehow irritate it? Can you hear it coming up behind you? Will you even know it's there as it leaps on your back going for your neck?

That cat must have been either really pissed or really hungry to attack someone with a noisy chainsaw.


I might have to invest in one of these next time I go out in cat country.

Can't count the number of times I've said exactly the same thing. I've been chased by a pissed off bear and I've been stalked by a mountain lion without realizing it was there until it was within a few yards. Guess which is more dangerous?

I don't like kitty cats. They're sneaky and dangerous, and I've had the misfortune of seeing seven of the critters in a pack (What does one call a group of kitties?) on my road after a particularly harsh winter, and they weren't looking to be petted. The worst thing is that you might not get the chance to defend yourself against one of them if you aren't very alert.

A man was hunting/following one close to Park Lake above Clancy, MT. He heard something behind him, and saw one following him. As he was assessing the situation, the first lion he was following double backed on him, so he headed up the nearest tree. Turns out a total of 5 lions were in the neighborhood, and decided to hang out and just stare at him up in the tree. Luckily he had cell service and was able to call in some help. What help showed up I can't remember, but the fact that they were hunting him instead of him hunting them...is just a tad bit frightening...

Am I the only one who thought just by the thread title that this guy is a total badass and is one hell of a drinking story?
