How's Our Patient Service? ...52 Years Too Late!

Everything that would not belong anywhere else.

Somehow, we (in Plymouth, UK) just received a forwarded letter from a Leamington Spa surgery, asking that one of my Uncles let them know what he thinks about the customer service he received during his last appointment. I'm thinking he might have a hard time remembering though, as he emigrated to Santa Monica to work for Lockheed just over 52 years ago and has never set foot back on British soil since and, it was 60 years since he last lived at the address the letter was initially directed to!

I'm amazed they still have everything on record somewhere, but I do wonder where on Earth they dug the details up from {crazy}

Was it one of those situations where a letter was found by post office employees stuck in a machine from years ago?

They'd probably return it to the sender asking for the difference in the extra postal cost :))

It's a brand new letter, sent out just a few weeks ago. He left that surgery in the 1940s and for some reason they just dug out his records - makes me wonder how many other people got them, including those deceased, as they had no way of knowing if he was alive or not {boggled}

Could have been worse - he could have spent 52 years waiting on the NHS Direct phone line.....

He probably never informed his GP he was emigrating and stayed on the active patient list. They may not have a system that checks for such things or an archive for patients who clearly aren't around anymore.
A million great ideas...

I wonder if it's got a 2d stamp and an old postmark on it.

I don't think they check anything other than name, address and surgery - I received a similar survey, despite not having visited my GP for probably more than 5 years!
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

That's very neat. I recently got a letter congratulating me on my acceptance to a college. For the spring semester. For the PAST '09 spring semester. Sent about a week ago. And now they've also sent me two letters of congrats on my grades...the exact letter twice.

The public institution is well run.

At least your school still believes in mail.. Mine sends any correspondence to any of 3 email addresses I have had on file with them at some point. It is kind of a game.. Find the important message.

Every time my college sends me anything to do with my student account, bills, notices etc. I get two, every time. Why cant the refund checks come like that too? Freaking New York... {grumpy}

Dam right! I'm a Masshole thru and thru :)) . But sadly, New York state was has the cheapest/ closest school for my major. I fear driving my car up to school during baseball season because I've plastered these on my back windshield:
