A country that gives its people such a great commercial for beer can't be that bad after all:



This commercial for Taedong Gang, North Korea's premium beer brand, tells people how this excellent beer helps to relax and forget the stressful daily life. Consuming it regularly will thus lead to a happier lifestyle.

Let the beer become a part of your life, the commercial tells its viewers.

OK, but you have to have a TV to be able to watch it... And electricity to power the TV, much less the rest of your shack...

Folks, don't be so critical. You might as well call Kim a progressive leader in terms of energy saving!

NK has had Cap & Trade since the early 50's...

We'll be the same pretty soon, great beer, but no TV. Cap & Trade will make it cost prohibitive. We have the "Dear Leader" too you know.

Am I being daft, or are there an awful lot of lights in the middle of the sea? Would this be ships/flares/rigs, or just a recording error?


I'd just about got to the stage that I could think about booking a long awaited trip to North Korea, when they decided to have a political spat with Downing Street and ban all UK citizens from entering I was going to take Finnair LHR-HEL-PEK on the MD-11, fly onwards to North Korea, then take the train all the way back overland; Pyongyang; Dandong; Beijing; Ulan Bator; Irkutsk; Novorossisk; Moscow; Minsk; Warsaw; Berlin; Brussels; London; Plymouth. One day in the future I guess...
