Your least favorite cities/countries/locales to visit?

Everything that would not belong anywhere else.

The Kuwait thread got me thinking...where are your least favorite places you've visited? Here's my top 5.
Let me preface this by saying, when I travel, I usually enjoy my experiences. I usually am willing to try new things and see things I"ve never seen before, however, there are a few places I really dislike.
1. Russia. I can't say enough bad things. I hate the place. I hate the giant bureaucracy that comes with it. Siberia/Lake Baikal may be cool, but that's about it. Moscow is hell on earth. There are no reedeeming qualities about it. From the experience at the Consulate and the Embassy, to the actual flight, to the time in the city, it's a disaster to go to.
2. Belize. Hot, humid, poverty-stricken dump.
3. Haiti- See Belize
4. Denver- I've never understood the allure of it. I like the Airport, but that's about it.
5. Bozeman, MT. hate it.

Yours? Maybe I'll start a "favorite places" one too, to have a balance.

New York City.

Los Angeles.

Mexico City.

Pretty much anything south of Kentucky/Indiana State Line and East of the Mississippi River, except Florida.

The East Coast of the US from Baltimore to Boston.

The Aleutian Islands - do it once, check the block, forget about it.

Colombia.

Equador - except Manta.

Dominican Republic.

That'll do for now.
LET'S GO BRANDON!!!!

I imagine the Aleutians as a cold, windswept, miserable place. Am I pretty much right?

New York I"m not a fan of either. It's a huge mess, though I'm a big fan of The South.

In no particular order:-

Madrid - Hot sweaty version of Birmingham (the UK one)

Las Palmas - The wild west is alive and well in the Canaries.

Dublin - The rip-off capital of Europe. Cork is far better.

Stoke-on-Trent - No I don't want tripe with my chips and I'm not called duck. {crazy}
A million great ideas...

-Burbank. Ugly little trash hole full of ugly little people, most of them no doubt prostitutes judging from the fake mammaries.

-Lovell, Wyoming. It's a miserable little place right smack dab in the middle of ugly.

-Las Vegas. Though many people like it, I cannot stand the place. It's fugly, crowded, and Hoover Dam and the watersports don't make up for it. However, I don't drink/gamble really, so naturally 90% of the city is lost on me.

-Daytona Beach-What a little trash heap. And the beach sucks, too. And no, I will not pay to drive on the beach.

-Whatever little town is immediately west of Flagstaff, Arizona. Stayed there and did not like it at all.

In general, I don't like LIVING in Arizona. Visiting is cool.

I also don't care for New England.

Heh Burbank...Capital of the Porn Capital of the World (San Fernando Valley).
Maybe not prostitutes, but probably some pornoflick broads.
I don't mind it. I'd rather be there than the IE.

Been to Luxembourg City twice (ten years apart). What a stand-off'ish place! It seems that unless you're in a suit, you're not worth the time of day. I know damned well that English is taught in the school system there, but it's amazing how many pretend not to speak it when you're asking for directions or whatnot. Expensive, too. The best part of Luxembourg is getting the hell out of it!

Hey! I live in riverside! There are some shitty parts, i'll be the first to admit it (I don't count Moreno Valley or San Bernadino as IE) so meh

I met some tourists once from Lux! They weren't the nicest tourists I've ever met, and they both had these incredibly thick accents for whatever reason. They kept saying that they wanted to, "Gou un food oo the fueting bildng." Treated me like crap when I asked if they could repeat it once and maybe go a little slower. Turns out they wanted to "Go on foot to the food-eating building." Anyway, they were with a mixed tour group that was wandering around, and it was a generally nice bunch.

I actually find the beaurocracy adds to the charachter in an odd way and, after a while, you know how the police/official/guard/person with what you want (delete as applicable) is after, so you can either call them out or give it to them straight off and save yourself some time.

Hot, sweaty, and well over 30 degrees right now. That´s why I´m in a nice air conditioned room, but there´s no way it´s as bad as Birmingham - nothing on Earth is, you just can´t get any worse!

Here´s my list:

France (the whole of it), In general, everytime I go there or fly AF I say I´m never going to do it again, but this time I really mean it, I´ve had it with the attitude and their version of "service".

Mariuopol, Ukraine. It´s rated as one of the world´s most polluted cities and is basically full of steel workers, sailors and prostitutes. Even if someone gives you a free ticket, don´t go the "women" there are rough, ugly and god knows what they´ve got!

Manila, Philippines. God that place stank, and there is really nothing to look at - a few oldish churches, a fort, some big volcano crators in the nearby countryside, and that´s it. Plus the place is full of hookers and women looking for western husbands, you can´t go five paces without being solicited.

Jolo, Philippines. Now I know just how dangerous it is for westeners there, I won´t be going back.

Hull, England. For those of you who are familiar with UK politics, you may remember that strange figure called John Prescott. Well, having been to Hull for several days, I was worried to find that he´s normal... there are some odd people in Hull. Lee/BMIFlyer, sorry mate if you´re reading this - just goes to show Hull has some normal folks as well ;)

Birmingham, England. It´s got lots of facilities, it´s got great transport links, and it´s got some amazing countryside fairly nearbye. Yet it´s still crap, the people sound depressing and are so ridiculously small minded that I found it was like talking to a 5 year old sometimes. There are of course exceptions, but when every other night you´ve got police helicopters over you and murders every day with riots on the streets, it kind of puts you off.

One man's hell is another man's heaven. If there was a steady, good-paying, cushy job there, I'd be happy to spend the rest of my days out on Attu, Adak, or Shemya and come back to the desert to vacation for a couple of weeks each year.

When my brother (he was 19 at the time) came down for my graduation from Embry-Riddle (in 1982), he called DB " a dump with class"...and that was 26+ years ago. Which was just about spot on. And in 1982, DB wasn't a bad place, certainly not the overhyped and overpriced tourist trap it is now. And driving on the beach was a novel concept back then, though at times it could be a pain in the behind.

Denver proper doesn't do anything for me...but anything from the foothills (Golden, etc) westward is awesome.

Hmmm my worst five, some of which i expected to be bad and some which turned out much worse than expected.

In no particular order:

1. Montreal
2. Dubai
3. Seattle
4. Bucharest
5. Delhi

Johannesburg used to be on that list, but in recent trips i've actually started to enjoy myself there more.

It just seems like the whole city is corny and fake. I know some of the areas are nice, but I'd rather live/visit San Diego. Mission Bay in the summer = win. Never been to Northern California, so can't comment about up there.

The beaches, while secluded and "pretty", are cold, and the women are ugly and hairy.

Stay away.

I'm there at least once a month and, well, I don't really look forward to it.

That's all I can come with at the moment.
