Over the next few days, I'll be doing some work on the underlying database. Essentially this will be enforcing some rules that we're enforcing anyway but at a lower level, as well as tightening up the behaviour when certain rare events happen.
I don't expect this work to cause you any problems. However, nothing is guaranteed. If you see a really ugly page talking about database errors, do let me know:
- Page URL
- What you were trying to do at the time
- Photo/album/whatever ID(s) if relevant
You may have seen some of these errors in the last week or so. Since the photo database was launched, nothing would break as long as nobody did the thing. It was six years before somebody did the thing. I've tidied up the mess from that and it should all be fixed, but now is the time to tighten everything up and prevent it from happening again.
