Photo views are good. Lots of photo views are even better. And when they earn you netAirspace Miles, they're better still.

They just got better.

Now, if you have a runaway shot that picks up lots of views in a single day, it could earn you Achievements (and even more Miles):

500+ views in a day: Viral Bronze
1000+ views in a day = Viral Silver
2500+ views in a day = Viral Gold
10000+ views in a day = Viral Black

You can earn each achievement once per photo, but there is no limit on how many times you can earn them on different photos.

A "day" is the 24-hour period between daily counter resets, which happen at roughly 0530 GMT. If one of your shots has enough views at the end of the day when the counter resets, you get the Achievement.

Getting one of these will automatically get you any lower ones too: A photo with 3000 views in one day would qualify you for Viral Gold, but would also get you Viral Silver and Viral Bronze.

Upload your shots, share them widely, rack up Miles and Achievements - but most of all, have fun. {thumbsup}
My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

Hmmm... I seem to remember that early on there was some silly number of hits one of my photos was getting from somewhere we all had a laugh at... maybe I should give them a call...

Note to self: Upload 8 of mine at 0532 and shove graphic's off the homepage. {mischief}

I remember that too (Starship?).

To show you how far we've come since then, you do not occupy any place on the top 20 shots when sorted by views per day, hence the black achievement being set at 10k per day. Currently that looks unattainable but we've pushed things so far over the last year that I don't doubt there will be a number of photographers earning the black achievement within a year.
A million great ideas...

How does one sort photos by views per day?

At the moment we have to ask Ed for a list {boxed}

FWIW, these achievements have been awarded retrospectively, so if you ever broke 500 you'll see a Pot Luck Viral Bronze in your profile.

A quick look and we have ten photographers with bronze and four with silver already. One of the silvers was a whisker away from gold, so these achievements are attainable with a little effort.

From a social media perspective, the social media team will fully support all promotable shots that are showing signs of going viral as we always have done, this way everyone's a winner.

We have our first shot to achieve Viral Gold. One of TP80's series of hugely popular Mojave series cleared over 2.5k views in a single day yesterday:

And it's still going strong. I believe this was the first image shared on social media of an ex-AB LGW aircraft to appear in the hastily-prepared interim Eurowings decals, so it benefits greatly from being the subject of a couple of the most talk-about aviation stories at the moment and definitely shows the value of promoting shots that are relevant to a current hot topic on social media {thumbsup}

That white Dash has been most viewed of the day for five days straight, and may yet hang on for a sixth...
