Some of you may have heard of the new
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that went into effect in the
EU today.
While netAirspace is not a European website, the regulation will still apply to us, as far as our European members are concerned.
However, as we do not collect personally identifiable information, no changes to our Terms of Use are required.
Still, I would like to point out what data we collect, and what we do with it. Don't worry, this won't take long.
If you use netAirspace as an unregistered member, we do not collect or use any personally identifiable information. We do not use any analytics or third-party software either. No Google Analytics, no Facebook trackers, nothing.
We don't have third-party advertising on netAirspace, so we don't need your consent to share your information with adware providers. Because we don't do that anyway.
If you register an account with netAirspace, we ask you to provide an e-mail address, to complete the registration process. You are not required to use a personal mail address. Just one you have (legal) access to.
We do store this e-mail address along with your other user account information encrypted on our server. We do not process that information, and we don't sell it to anybody or make it otherwise accessible.
If you decide to provide your real name to be shown underneath your photos, you are welcome to do so. It's not required, however, so the choice is all yours. You can also retroactively change this in your
photo options. Change your photographer name, check the checkbox to apply it on all your existing photos, and you're set (just allow the server a while to process your input).
If you still feel that you don't want us to have any of your information anymore, drop us a message - reply to this thread, send me a
PM or
e-mail - and we'll delete your account, which includes your account information.
The only thing that does change with the new GDPR:If you want to upload a photo showing people in a way that makes them identifiable to others, you do need the explicit consent of all depicted people.
So please make sure you have that explicit consent.
In the meantime, please understand that we may delete pictures if we have reasons to believe that they may not meet the new legal requirements.
Also, if you find yourself depicted without consent, please do contact us and we will remove the photo immediately.
That's about it. I hope you will keep enjoying the site. We will keep running it without any intention to collect and use any personally identifiable information. Should that ever change, we will let you know.
Cheers,
Stefan (Zak)
