Six Years And Counting

The place for site-related announcements and member feedback.

We opened the "doors" six years ago today. We started as just a forum that was hosted on Zak's server.

After Ed came up with the code, we got what we had long desired: a photo database. At this moment, we have 73,722 photos in the database. The forums have grown, with over 257202 posts in 20641 topics. We currently have 604 members.

Thanks to all that have joined, contributed, uploaded and volunteered to make this place run well.

It took a while to push back from the blocks, we have taken-off. Sit back, enjoy the ride as we travel to the future.

Thanks for flying with netAirspace.com!
And let's get one thing straight. There's a big difference between a pilot and an aviator. One is a technician; the other is an artist in love with flight. — E. B. Jeppesen

Happy Birthday netairspace! :))

It's been great being a part of this community for the past six years, both as a user and as a staff member.

I'd like to thank a few people....

First, I'd like to thank Ed. The site looks GREAT, it works GREAT, and he's still making periodic updates to make it even better. We owe you so much more than you'll ever be paid for the project.

Second, all those others who have contributed to the "nuts-and-bolts" of making the site work. People who contributed ideas, people who tested, the NAS Administrators, etc. I know there are many I am not even aware of, and I appreciate you all.

Third, a special thanks to Stefan. When things went bad at ASO, we had another place to go with a forum up and running literally within an hour or two. No hesitation to put it on his own server, he just stepped up and did it.

Fourth.... Vic. He does the Daily without fail every day and it's always high quality. It undoubtedly brings a lot of people to the site. {thumbsup}

Fifth, thank you to our unbelievable community. That first day, we passed the URL around to each other by e-mail and we brainstormed to see who had e-mail addresses of others and to make sure we didn't miss anybody. It was an awesome experience to be a part of, and still is. I've donated to NAS a few times, but I also know there are some who have gone WAY above and beyond the call and we wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them. And all those who contribute to discussions, information, and photos here make it a place we all want to visit.

And lastly, believe it or not, I want to thank Monique, Paulo (posthumously, "an amazing pilot"), PanAmDC10 (or whoever came up with the plan for MADASS*), and especially Ted. Not that I would piss on Ted if he was on fire, but I thank him for being the (redacted) he is, unifying us, and setting us on the course that led us to where we are today.

6 years already {bugeye}

Another big thanks to Ed for keeping the website operational and figuring out the database issues*. And to Vic for the Daily!

*we still have a location labeled "Obama" that seems to be not tied to anything :))

Time does fly when you're having fun! {bugeye}

A huge THANK YOU to all of you who make this, my home on the web, such a great place. Y'all rock {thumbsup} :)) Here's to many more years to come!
Money can't buy happiness; but it can get you flying, which is pretty much the same.

Happy Birthday to NAS.

And I too want to thank all the folks behind the scenes. Ed, Vic and Stefan are the three that come to mind quickly, but also to everyone that works to make this the great place it is....

{thumbsup} {thumbsup}

So guess what! I just met my FIRST EVER member of NAS! The only person I'd ever met otherwise was the Ed Böhnlein, who was formerly Monorail on that other place.

Anyway, yes, now I know GQFluffy, and all the secrets of GQ, not that they do me any good anymore. He and his wife were a blast!!! I even tried to induct them into my cult!

Thought it was fitting for the 6-year mark! Amazing place! Now the rest of you better meet me, too! :))

You guys hadn't met before?

Damn, I assumed you two spent every weekend together or something.

Could take awhile at one person every 6 years.... :))

Anyway, I guess that's what happens when you live in North Dakota or Montana or Saskatchewan or wherever you are.
