Friend here is working on a project for her furniture design course, for which she needs a lot of different bottle caps. Her husband and I have done our part, but we've run out of local breweries to sample...

Do any of you have some bottle caps lying around that you'd be willing to send? The more the merrier, the more local flavour the better. (But we won't lower ourselves to drinking Bud Lite, so if you will, we won't tell anyone where we got the cap.) Doesn't even have to be alcohol, soda pop is just fine.

They do need to be reasonably flat and in good condition, since they have to sit flat on the wood.

PM me and we'll figure out a way to reimburse you for the shipping. And naturally, I'll post pics of the finished product.
My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

I think I can play along. There are half a dozen small breweries close by here in Western Wisconsin. How many caps do you want of each kind? There's Rush River Brewery, Pitchfork Brewing, Oliphant Brewing, Hop & Barrel Brewing, etc. All I'd need in exchange are enough of the new £1 coins to help cover some of the postage.

Nice one! Thanks Mark.

One of each is fine. She wants them all to be different...

Don't have any myself but I can ask around, we have loads of local breweries that will be pretty unique. Only issue being everything is closed for the next three weeks {grumpy}
A million great ideas...

most of the local breweries i buy from only sell cans.
I like my coffee how I like my women: Black, bitter, and preferably fair trade.

I've checked all of the breweries in the area (Western Wisconsin USA) and all but one only sell beer on tap. All of the tap-only sellers have retail restaurants or taphouses where they serve their beer. The one brewery that sells beer in bottles, Rush River Brewing Company, has caps available. I'll see if I can get some if you'd like them, but I don't know if it's worth the postage and packaging to send only two or three caps. Let me know.

It's worth it. If you happen to come across some soda-pop or Bud Shite (basically soda-pop) caps, local or more generic, those are also cool. PM me and I'll sort you out for postage - PayPal or sending something in return. While new UK coinage may be difficult depending on what was in my pockets when I left there last time, I can definitely get my hands on some Moomin merch, bear paté, or reindeer meat :P

OK. I'll get a few Rush River Brewing Company caps. They make four or five different types, so I'll try to get a half a dozen of each. US$5 sent to Paypal will work, if that's OK with you. I'll PM my email address. You reply with the shipping address.

OK, Ed... You'll be receiving about 36 bottle caps sent via US Postal Service First Class post posted (mailed) on November 27th... the 26th is a holiday here in the USA and the post offices are closed. I would have sent them by Priority Mail, but that would have cost $45.

Planning begins... and Mark's Rush River caps may just have taken the design of the final piece in a whole new direction, which is awesome.

Looks like she's about 20 designs short of having a 9-caps-per-side hexagon right now, but we had a two-year-old helping, so we're not entirely sure! I guess her husband and I will have to take one for the team and keep on drinking. :))

I've had a beer advent calendar with a load of bottles and caps, if the project is still on going I can forward them on?
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

Wow. I'm glad I could help! I walked into the Rush River brewery, which is a warehouse, stopped, and looked around. About a hundred feet off to the left were about two dozen guys on barstools with no one anywhere else. Walked over there and saw a bar set up in the middle of the warehouse. Sure enough. That's where they serve their products by the glass on tap. The friendly bartender asked, "What'll you have?" I explained my need for bottle caps. He grabbed a disposable plastic 10 ounce cup, walked around a couple of corners back in the warehouse, and came back with it 3/4 full of new bottle caps. I asked, "How much?" He said not to worry about it.
