Holy crap.. They even have it in stock.

No, I don't really plan on selling it. Now I am looking for a Mauser and an Enfield. I already have the Garand.

Motorcycle builder and celebrity Jesse James started his own gun company awhile back.

https://www.jjfu.com/

Looks like some interesting guns, overpriced and more geared for looks tho.

Here's a couple he made for Mr. and Mrs. Jolie.

"I built this custom pair of Cisco 1911’s for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Both are Government size. Her’s is chambered in 9mm and his in .45acp . Both are hand fit from all oversize parts, making them incredibly accurate, well shooting pistols."

BBC News - Colt files for bankruptcy

Connecticut-based gun maker Colt Defense has filed for bankruptcy protection, as it grapples with a heavy debt load.

The company says it plans to continue its normal business operations during its restructuring.

The company is struggling with more than $350m (£225m) in debt, as well as waning sales.

Colt's fortunes were hurt by the loss of a contract in 2013 to supply the US army with its M4 assault rifle.

Keith Maib, the company's chief restructuring officer, said: "Colt remains open for business and our team will continue to be sharply focused on delivering for our customers and being a good commercial partner to our vendors and suppliers".

This has been a long time coming. Colt simply isn't relevant anymore. They've been banking on the Colt name to keep them in business for a while now. Other companies make pretty much every product Colt makes, only better and cheaper. Colt hasn't introduced a new successful line in longer than I can remember.

I am considering a Sig 9mm MPX but have no experience purchasing an SBR.

Image

From reading online I would probably have get an NFA trust to get the SBR on (paying $200 tax) under AZ law?

I am not too familiar with the relationship between the NFA and the SBR. And once the NFA is set up you can put multiple SBR's on it very easily?

E mail me and I will get you the trust, all you have to do is add your name and that of a successor and you are good to go. With te trust you can get select fire, suppressors, SBRs and AOWs.

Trust is definitely the best way to go. Make sure to get your receiver engraved with the full trust name (no abbreviations unless there is an abbreviation in the trust name). Then get rid of that sigbrace and put a real stock on the gun.

I am not happy with the FBI. I was denied purchasing a new firearm in December despite having my rights restored and in possession of the restoration letter from AZ Superior Court. That is fine, I expected that from government bureaucracy.

I sent in my paperwork and they finally sent me a letter in May stating "Based on further review and investigation we have been able to determine you are eligible to possess or receive a firearm".

So, they sent me a letter 6 months later but it only addresses this single purchase. It really isn't too helpful as the sale of the gun is over and frankly, I purchased the gun off of backpage. The USDOJ letter than goes on to state...

"The NICS Section offers the Voluntary Appeal File (VAF) as an option for individuals to request the NICS retain information to prevent future extended delays or erroneous denials in their attempts to posses or receive a firearm"

So I called the FBI and talked to a nice lady. She confirmed that most likely the NCIS check would continue to deny future gun purchases and completing the VAF would only give me a reference number to give the FBI when running future checks.

I told the nice lady that I understand that this is an administrative process and I feel as though she has no responsibility in the matter....but, I have demonstrated that I have a constitutional and legal right to own a firearm, they have confirmed this and agreed to this, and yet they will not adjust or amend their database to allow future purchases.

My only option it appears is to complete the VAF which includes having a fingerprint card done. I feel as though they have no right in preventing me from purchasing a firearm, VAF or not. They are aware that I have the legal right and they agree with me, yet still prevent me from purchasing a firearm. I am not a litigious person but I feel as though this is a breach of my rights, and a pain in the ass. I am finally only trying to straighten this out to get my SBR.

Get your AZ CCW. It allows you to bypass the background check when purchasing a firearm in AZ. They just make a copy of the license and off you go.

One of the best reasons to get a CCW/CHL/SDA what ever they call it where you live.

That's actually a good idea. I am not sure if they would have the same issue with the background check, but once I clear it up I won't have to do it again.

Here's something a little creepy but funny.

Try running that AFG further out to the muzzle on the AR. You'll get better swing authority on the muzzle and will it will greatly reduce muzzle bob while moving, especially running the stock that short.

I will pass that along to the owner - a childhood friend of my Son's. The top three are my Son's - he has been friends with a guy that owns a local gun shop for many years. I'm going through him to get some training for my concealed carry. That MP5 was only $379.00.....

Taurus is recalling ~ 1 million pistols due to defects in the safety mechanism as part of a lawsuit settlement.

The lawsuit alleges that there were safety defects in the nine models that caused them to fire when the trigger is pulled even though the safety in the "on" or "safe" position and others when dropped or bumped, a notice that will be published and sent to customers states. The alleged defects are attributable to the lack of a "trigger safety blade" within the semi-automatic pistols, the lawsuit claims.

The settlement affects customers who bought the following models sold between 1997 and 2013 in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam: PT-111 Millennium; PT-132 Millennium; PT-138-Millennium; PT-140 Millennium; PT-145 Millennium; PT-745 Millennium; PT-609; PT-640; and PT-24/7.

If you have one of these, they have to pay shipping and repair it or replace it with a new pistol even if you aren't the original owner.

Question for the law enforcement guys - what would you say (or at least guesstimate) is roughly the percentage on average on rounds fired by law enforcement on a given suspect that actually hit the suspect (regardless whether the shot kills, disables or neither)? And I know I ask that given the large amount of factors with which the officers experience at any given time (such as distance, multiple kinds of distractions, fatigue, focus, adrenaline, terrain/topography/obstacles, make/model of firearm, caliber, training/experience, timing, whether the officer[s] and/or suspect is/are moving/stationary, etc.). The reason I ask is that 1 out of 84 is something I would think would likely be filed under "rare-to-almost-never".

Disclaimer: I don't work for either of the companies whose products I am about to talk about, nor do I get any sales commissions. I just think they are great products that provide for serious training opportunities.

Serious, no joke, this is the best combination of training products I have run into in a long time and they've changed how I train and how I do my instruction.

The first item is the SIRT pistol from Next Level Training:

Image

Right now they make two models, the 110 and the 107. The 110 is the original model and emulates a Glock 17. The 107 is a brand new model just entering the market and it emulates a M&P. Both of them are the same dimensions as the firearms they mimic which means that you can practice with your carry holsters, lights, lasers etc. The model 107 even accepts the M&P interchangeable back straps. Both of them have two laser units in them. One laser activates during the trigger take up so that any muzzle wobble caused during the tripper pull is very obvious. The second laser activates at the trigger break so that you can see where a shot would have landed. There is a switch to deactivate the take up laser so you can train with only the impact laser if you want. Even with just the impact laser you can still easily see muzzle movement because the laser mark will look like a dash instead of a spot. Both models can have the sights replaced with any sights made to fit their real counterparts, so you can practice with the same sights on your carry gun. Especially for newer students, the feedback from dry fire practice with the SIRT pistol has been amazing for improving sight alignment, sight picture and trigger control before you get to the range and start with live fire.

On it's own, the SIRT is a great training tool, but it really shines when you combine it with LASR software. LASR uses a webcam to capture the laser pulses from a SIRT pistol and displays them back on a computer screen for you. At it's lowest level it is a good tool for showing a student how a string of shots would have looked on a real target, but it's real power is in the customization settings that allow you to vary your training scenarios. For example, the software can have multiple targets designated and be told to deactivate a certain target after a number of shots, so target transition drills can be done. The way I have it set up right now for my personal training is; Three targets that it randomly calls, left right center. It is set to deactivate a target after a random number of hits between three and eight. It will also randomly call for a reload every seven to ten shots.

This screenshot is from the company website, but is very similar to how I'm using the system:

Image

You can see that the system started the drill and the shooter put the first round on target at 1.47 seconds (nice), then after the first shot the system called for a reload and the shooters next shot on target was at 2.95 seconds for a 1.48 second reload (nice). Then they system decided that target was out of the game, but the shooter pulled the trigger again (welcome to real world shooting). Then the system called another target and I guess the shooter was distracted because he took 2.3 seconds to transition to the new target.

The program has a variety of feedback and interaction sounds. For example, you can make it sound like you are shooting steel plates, so any shot that hits a target area makes the pling sound metal would. It's good positive reinforcement for new shooters so they feel a sense of accomplishment in their new skills. It also has standard scoring timer start sounds and an assortment of standard range commands so that if you are practicing for IDPA or something similar you can train to the right cues. You can even set it to do a random timer start so that after you hit the program run button you don't know when the start cue will come.

And now for a cheating tip. The system was designed for you to hang up some real targets and point the webcam at them. We have found through experimentation that the system also works with targets projected from a Power Point projector. I now have a library of target images that I can project and since they are computer images, I can re-scale them as big or little as I want for the shooter.

Seriously, no joke, best training tool I have seen in a long long time.

Been a while since I posted here, guess I'll show off a recent acquisition by me and Mrs. Queso. She is hooked on Sig Sauers now too, and we both saw this in a gun store while on a recent vacation and decided to pick it up. She likes "pretty" guns. and this is probably one of the tightest 1911's I've laid hands on, unlike a lot of the others which rattle when shaken. We're very proud of it.

Sig Sauer 1911 Texas Edition, engraved and polished, with gold inlays and engraved Rosewood grips, adjustable Tritium night sights.
