DSLR Case for Backpacking

Non-aviation photos, camera equipment and photography in general.

Mrs. TUSpilot and I will be doing some backpacking in New Zealand in February and I don't want to walk for days with a camera haphazardly slung around my neck. I have a 60D and I was planning to use only my 18-200 lens (only other choice currently is 50/1.8). Does anyone here have any recommendations on good cases to buy that would be good for backpacking? Ideally it would hold camera and lens assembled, space for a filter and extra battery, offer good protection, and not be overly heavy.

Never hiked with my DSLR before so any other tips are welcome as well.

Thanks in advance!

Honestly, do like all of us backpackers do and get a nice Osprey anti-grav to stuff it into. Problem solved.

Mine have seen over 500 miles in the past two years in them, no problems.
