I'd be down for that.

Perfect! Best time for a meet should be the weekend, 03/04 Sep.

Would be great to have a spotter meet again, after all that Corona shit.

That weekend works nicely around my shifts, be a fairly short trip but I should be able to work something out!
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

Didnt look for hotels yet

Skyways Hotel looks good. Lower priced beds and close to the airport. Last time I was at an LAX meet, someone had a car. Otherwise, I used Uber.

Just had a quick look. Skyways hotel doesnt look bad, indeed. Would be an option.

Car is already booked, only standart size, but rental cars are damn expensive these days...

Hey. Jochen... If you book at the Skyways Hotel, so will I. Hopefully, more users would also book there once they see some people doing it. I plan on flying in on August 31st and leaving on September 3rd... It's tentative. If I could hitch rides to get to spotting sites in your rental car, I'll pay you for part of the rental fee.

Might be up for this one, but won't know for a few months yet.

Would be a shame not to use that AY long-haul upgrade voucher...
My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

Yes we can do that, I´ll check again for the hotel rates. What I see is that they dont offer a good rate with breakfast, so we need to go for breakfast somewhere. I need my breakfast... {laugh}

If I fly in on Aug 31 and return to MSP on Sept 3, I can fly free by using points. Anyone else flying in on Aug 31?

Apparently, DL has "brownout" dates around the time of our get together. I would prefer to fly in on Sept 1.

There's got to be a diner somewhere near the hotel that we can walk to. Personally, I'm not a fan of hotel breakfasts.

Sounds good to me, I'll probably do the weekend 2-5

This sounds like a great meet-up! I can't commit but am very interested in joining if things work out. On a sad note, SOFIA will no longer have funding either by or after September, not sure about the last day. That might be worth a trip out to PMD if she is flying any before sunset.

Would be great to see you there Ashley, then it´s almost 3 years ago after the last meet.

Worth a trip out to PMD just to see two Blackbirds at once! Never even knew the place existed until now.

Where do you think Lockheed built the Tri-star? :))

Or any of their Skunkworks aircraft? :))

LAX (and SAN/LAS for that matter) ATC is out there as well.

It has been too long; hard to believe it has been 3 years almost, I believe since the 10-year NAS reunion. The last "official" meet I've been to was FLAP2020, and it's been over two years since that now. I've got my fingers and toes crossed for 2023.

FLAP 2023 would be great. 5 years than since my last visit in Miami.

Trip to Palmdale sounds good to me, I would join that. Also a stop at San Bernandino Airport could be interesting. An Air Bridge Cargo 748 is there at the moment.

Wow, that is hard to believe! Time is truly flying... SBD would also be a great stop. There is a tanker base there, but I am not sure how active those will be. It will depend on the wildfires in the area, perhaps. If things work out, Breeze Airways will be starting service to SBD in August, I believe.

NASA operates the U2 out of PMD as well, so that is another rarity that could possibly show up. On my last trip there, I caught a Grumman Greyhound and some C-130s doing practices. The DC-8 sadly eluded us with an oddball runway choice, so I need that one too.
