{grumpy} :))

It managed to take off in JNB, albeit after accelerating on the ground for what felt like an eternity. So I figured it couldn't have been a regular -300.

tangoscar wrote:How was your experience with B6 and WN compared to Alaska, DAL and AAL?

TR to follow, hopefully this weekend.

In short - DL flight was canxed b/o wx. B6 was fine. AS was great, but I flew in first, so it's hard to compare. WN was fine.

In general, when having to chose between DL and AA, I'd pick DL these days.

Curious about the AS flight, it was a 320 but . . . was it modified with AS interior? That is: 45" pitch in F or the VX pitch of 54". AS still hasn't completed the interior mods after seizing control of VX. If you were lucky enough to get on a still outfitted VS bird count your blessings. I'd like to have a set of the F seats in my living room! AS definitely dumbed down the VX product in a BIG way. Sad to say.

As DL or AA. For me a toss-up. AA has begun squeezing in more Y/Y+ seats therefore the pitch in F has gone down to 44" and all the new 738Max ships are coming from Boeing already cattle-cared (30" pitch in Y). I flew DL a bit ago from MCO-MSP-ORD, strangely, both were 757s, and they were fine. Delta 1 is a great product. I have avoided UA in the last two/three years as AS is a mileage partner with AA (DL was as well until a year ago) and I find UA generally more $$$ for very similar flight (usually ORD-MCO-ORD) and seat (F) - fat old crusty grumpy CSM doesn't do Y. {drillsergeant}

Eleventy-billion UA 737-900ER and 737-800 flights, but finally caught a ride on UA's new Max 9. Larger windows, redesigned cabin walls and seat-back tray table configuration. Much quieter. Very cool LED lighting that changes progressively over the course of the flight. Will be flying AA's new Max 8 next month, as well as Latam Argentina A320, Latam Chile A321, and Aerolineas Argentinas B738.
Look, it's been swell, but the swelling's gone down.

UA B788 standard config is 9-abreast. I'm a big guy and I didn't find it particularly tight. Then again, I had an aisle seat. I suspect window seats might be a little more cramped due to the cabin wall.

Sorry Pep, I missed that question. I've never flown VX (or AS before), so I can't be sure. But it was a lie flat seat with endless pitch, so I'm guessing it was still the old VX interior. It was AS branded, though.

Blinded by the lists above, I don't think these have been mentioned..

One of my oldest and most fond memories,

Island Airlines Ford Tri-Motor

At the time Island Airlines was operated between then Port Clinton airport,
now Erie-Ottawa International airport, (KPCW) and Put-In-Bay (3w2). My dad took me for a ride on it when I was very young, 7 maybe 8 years old. On the way back I got to sit in the right seat and the pilot reminded me of the wizard of OZ, constantly adjusting the throttle and pitch as well as reaching up and cranking the trim handle.
What's the point of an open door policy if inside the open door sits a closed mind?
