Sadly haven't been able to get one day off (the Saturday) and it would be too much of a gamble to book a trip without the leave. Considering how much effort I went to to move all my other holidays around and fit it around it's extremely disappointing.
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

I'll be meeting up with you all, probably on Saturday.

@Martin,
Call in sick. We won't tell anyone. Promised.

I'm arriving November 1 and leaving November 3. I'm staying at the Travelodge at 1804 East Sycamore Ave (just off Sepulveda at Maple St.) about a mile south of the airport. Does anyone know if there's a shuttle van to run those of us staying there to the viewing park? Or should I rent a car? I just don't want to end up stuck in a hotel room alone with no means of transportation.

I'm still in. Even if I have to bring my crutches.

No shuttle van. It's a 1 mile walk from the hotel to the viewing spot.

I understand the Travelodge has a free shuttle van to and from LAX. And "The Parking Spot" commercial car park next to In N Out has an LAX shuttle van. So theoretically, I/we should be able to take the hotel shuttle van to LAX, then take The Parking Spot shuttle van to the In N Out... and vice versa.

I was thinking of the Imperial Hill spot.

I'm staying in the Hampton just across the Travellodge and have car already rented.
So carpooling isn't much of a problem.

May I and anyone else in the vicinity hitch a ride with you?

I'm in the Travelodge and will also have a car, but won't arrive till late on the 1st.
My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

As some of you know I'm currently in court (no I'm not the defendant). If the case is done by Wednesday the 30th I'll be joining y'all as planned, if it runs into Thursday the 31st (or beyond) I won't make it and will be rather upset.
A million great ideas...

I tried to use "The Parking Spot" bus shuttle a few years ago, and they had started checking tickets for your parked vehicle. Not sure if this is still the case, however.

It was 97 degrees when I got home yesterday at around 4:30 PM.

Hopefully it won't be that hot...

No, temps are currently forecast to be quite comfortable. Very different from my current domicile, though, as far as appropriate attire selection.

We might be able to see the DC10 fire aircraft making low passes. Are they using the 747 this time?

You all should plenty far away from any fire activity.

Unless half of Los Angeles burns. May not necessarily be a horrible thing for traffic and property values. :))

Shouldn't; LAX area is one of the last places they'll cut power to for obvious reasons.

Also- they're cutting power in areas where they haven't maintained the right of way in the hills for their higher voltage transmission lines.

Hi all,

I'm very sorry, but I've just been informed I'll be working this weekend. {frown}

I hope you all have a great time!
Look, it's been swell, but the swelling's gone down.
