Some time ago, I came across the Herpa 1:500 model of the Polish Air Force / Gov. Tu-154 and started thinking about it.

I think we all know that 101 crashed in Smolensk in 2010 and even as a small child visiting Poland at the moment, I knew what political impact this had.

As I started spotting in 2014, I never saw the Polish Gov Tu-154 (or any other Tu-154) but now I´m wondering... Did the Polish Air Force had two Tu-154?

It´s common for a country to have more than one presidential aircraft. The US, Germany, Japan and so on, to name a few.

But what about Poland? Is a possible second Tu-154 stored somewhere, maybe at a museum? It would definitely be nice to pay a visit, if the possibility exists.

Thanks for any input or information guys!

P.S.: i´m also glad for any other hints where you can properly take a picture of a Tu-154 (display is ok ;) )

Interesting question. I know the air transport regiment that operated 101 only had that Tu-154 and a few Yak-40 but I'm not sure if there were any other examples elsewhere in the Polish AF.

In terms of seeing any examples flying, Kazakhstan is just about the only place that sees (fairly) regular Tu-154 flights. There are some Russian military movements but that's probably not advisable at the moment.

Is the Malev Tu-154 still parked up near BUD? Might be worth a look, they used to have some interesting old Soviet stuff rusting away in a field.
A million great ideas...

I had a look at Wikipedia and it claims the Polish Air Force operated two TU-154M`s.One crashed in 2010 and the other was retired in 2011.

My very first flight was in a Balkan TU-154, a civvie type needless to say to Plovdiv in Bulgaria, 1981 I think it was.

Found this, if it's any help: https://www.airportspotting.com/where-t ... ed-tu-154/ Ukraine might not be the best option right now, though {boxed}

Used to love seeing those going into LPL when I lived in Runcorn. Never did bother to get down to the airport and see one up close. {facepalm}
My friend and I applied for airline jobs in Australia, but they didn't Qantas.

Well, in terms of 102, I think I found it.

Hope the map images are from 2022 as stated: 52.189590809034165, 21.647147113153576

Looks like a Tu-154 in a hangar.

Tu-154 reg. 102 is currently stored in a hangar at the military airbase in Minsk Mazowiecki. https://www.google.pl/maps/@52.1896594, ... a=!3m1!1e3

It's probably not a place where anyone can walk in from the street and take a photo :) , but someone managed to photograph the tail a few years ago:

I found an article about history ot this airframe and what was done with it after its withdrawal in 2011 (in Polish, but the automatic translation to English in the browser is pretty good and makes sense):

Maybe in a few years the remains of this plane will be made available to the public?
