Some time ago, I came across the Herpa 1:500 model of the Polish Air Force / Gov. Tu-154 and started thinking about it.

I think we all know that 101 crashed in Smolensk in 2010 and even as a small child visiting Poland at the moment, I knew what political impact this had.

As I started spotting in 2014, I never saw the Polish Gov Tu-154 (or any other Tu-154) but now I´m wondering... Did the Polish Air Force had two Tu-154?

It´s common for a country to have more than one presidential aircraft. The US, Germany, Japan and so on, to name a few.

But what about Poland? Is a possible second Tu-154 stored somewhere, maybe at a museum? It would definitely be nice to pay a visit, if the possibility exists.

Interesting question. I know the air transport regiment that operated 101 only had that Tu-154 and a few Yak-40 but I'm not sure if there were any other examples elsewhere in the Polish AF.

In terms of seeing any examples flying, Kazakhstan is just about the only place that sees (fairly) regular Tu-154 flights. There are some Russian military movements but that's probably not advisable at the moment.

Is the Malev Tu-154 still parked up near BUD? Might be worth a look, they used to have some interesting old Soviet stuff rusting away in a field.

I had a look at Wikipedia and it claims the Polish Air Force operated two TU-154M`s.One crashed in 2010 and the other was retired in 2011.

My very first flight was in a Balkan TU-154, a civvie type needless to say to Plovdiv in Bulgaria, 1981 I think it was.

Used to love seeing those going into LPL when I lived in Runcorn. Never did bother to get down to the airport and see one up close.

Tu-154 reg. 102 is currently stored in a hangar at the military airbase in Minsk Mazowiecki. https://www.google.pl/maps/@52.1896594, ... a=!3m1!1e3

It's probably not a place where anyone can walk in from the street and take a photo , but someone managed to photograph the tail a few years ago:
