FlightGlobal's
obituary is an interesting read. He almost single handedly saved the Harrier program, though it is a shame that parliament conceded just before he rocked up outside Westminster in a prototype - that would have been something to see.
Over 80 of the 100+ types he flew were prototype/experimental aircraft. It takes a special kind of crazy to find your vocation flying unproven aircraft. Clear skies sir.
