At least 257 dead according to local television reports (though that might not be completely reliable). That seems like a huge number of people to fit in an Il-76.

The number just jumped and jumped. ABC reported the same as what Mark shared, then bumped the number to over 180, and Reuters last had a number closer to what JL posted (at over 250), but the number looks currently to be where JL mentioned.

Just to put it into perspective, if the 257 figure is correct this is the 10th largest loss of life in a single aviation incident in history.

It's more intact than I would have expected (see video).

Also, it hit a farmer in his field and he survived. LOL. Insane!
