Apparently they tested a variety of weaponry against small boats simulating what pirates are using these days. Here's a pic of a 2000 lb GBU-10 dropped from a B-1B about to hit a small boat.

You don't need any explosives for that application. Use the Israeli concrete bombs. But yeah, HE is much more fun.

al.com actually does a pretty solid job on aerospace stories. I would be very surprised if it was shopped.
