O’Leary: Ryanair FR4978 pilots were given no alternative to Minsk
Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary qualified the forced diversion of flight FR4978 by the Belarus regime as a “premeditated breach of all the international aviation rules."
On May 23, 2021, Ryanair’s Boeing 737, registered as SP-RSM, operating flight FR4978 from Athens (ATH), Greece, to Vilnius (VNO), Lithuania, was intercepted by an armed Belarusian MiG -29 fighter jet. Upon landing in Minsk (MSQ), a passenger identified as Roman Protasevich, a journalist, was arrested by the KGB, the Belarusian security services.

IndiGo ATR-72 suffers critical nose gear failure upon landing
An IndiGo ATR 72-600 (VT-IYX), built in 2019, experienced a critical nose gear failure upon landing at runway 26 at Hubli Airport (HBX), India.
On June 14, 2021, flight 6E-7979 took off from Kannur International Airport (CNN), India. With 5 passengers and crew the flight headed for Hubli Airport. Upon arriving at Hubli the aircraft crashed after experiencing a double tire burst on landing.

BREAKING | EU, US bury the hatchet in 16-year old Airbus-Boeing subsidies war
The United States and European Union resolved the Airbus-Boeing government subsidies quarrel.
On June 15, 2021, President of the United States Joe Biden confirmed having reached an agreement with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel.
The two sides have agreed to suspend tariffs for five years, putting an end to the 16-year-long dispute over government subsidies for large aircraft, namely Boeing and Airbus.

British Airways to fly the British and Irish Lions to South Africa this summer
British Airways has today announced it will fly the 37-strong British & Irish Lions squad to South Africa on June 27, 2021 for the eagerly awaited Lions Tour.
The team will be heading directly to Johannesburg on a charter flight from Edinburgh, following The Vodafone Lions 1888 Cup clash against Japan at BT Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday 26 June at 3pm.

Brussels Airlines resumes first transatlantic flights since March 2020
Brussels Airlines has resumed flights to the United States following a 15-month long halt of all its transatlantic operations. Brussels Airlines flight SN501 on June 14, 2021, was the carrier’s first transatlantic flight since March 2020.
The flight took off from Brussels (BRU) and headed for New York (JFK). Maaike Andries, a company spokesperson described the event as a “symbolic milestone” in the carrier’s progress towards its transatlantic operations relaunch.
