Myanmar Air Force Beechcraft 1900D crashes, killing 12 people
A Beechcraft 1900D of the Myanmar Air Force crashed under unknown circumstances near Pyin Oo Lwin.
The aircraft, registration 4610, took off from Naypyidaw International Airport (NYT), in Myanmar’s capital city and was on its way to Pyin Oo Lwin, in Mandalay. Sixteen people were on board, including military personnel, monks, and several civilians, according to local media.

Unruly Passenger on board American flight removed by Chicago police
An unruly passenger was removed from an American Airlines flight by authorities at O’Hare International Airport on Sunday.
The 26-year-old man was on board American flight AA3927 from Portland International Jetport to Chicago O’Hare International Airport. He was detained until the plane landed in Chicago.

American startup Electra Aero unveils design of new hybrid-electric aircraft
The American startup company Electra Aero unveiled the design of its first commercial hybrid-electric aircraft capable of flying up to 7 passengers on board.
The Virginia-based company is developing a new fixed-wing type hybrid-electric aircraft, which will be controlled by a single pilot and will be able to carry up to 7 passengers on board. The aircraft is expected to fly as far as 500 miles (805 kilometers) while operating out of areas shorter than a soccer field, including rooftops and parking lots.

Southwest announces its new schedule, adds Syracuse, will resume all international services
Southwest Airlines, which is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of its first flights this month, has extended its bookable flight schedule through Jan. 5, 2022, adding the carrier’s 18th new airport since early 2020.
The carrier announced today service to Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) in New York, will begin Nov. 14, 2021. Syracuse will become the 121st airport for Southwest®. The carrier also published new flights today that resume service to all previously served international destinations.

WestJet to offer Canadians the most flights to Hawaii this winter
WestJet today announced significant growth to its Hawaii network, featuring more Dreamliner flight options from Western Canada to Maui and new non-stop service from Calgary to Kona and Lihue this winter. With 57 weekly roundtrip flights on 10 nonstop routes, WestJet offers more service between Canada and Hawaii than any other airline.

Moov Airways wants to be the next new Swiss airline
Moov Airways (Basle/Mulhouse/Freiburg) is a prospective new Swiss airline.
Moov Airways is the new name for upstart Swiss Skies.
Moov intends to operate Airbus A321LXRs on long-range routes from Basel (EuroAirport) which covers three countries.

Swoop announces its winter schedules, will return to the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean
Swoop today released its expanded winter schedule including increased nonstop domestic service and the re-introduction of flights to the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Following a sustained pattern of new daily bookings on par with pre-pandemic levels, the airline also announced it will proceed with planned fleet growth, inducting its tenth Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft into service this winter.

Alaska Airlines adds new flights to sun-filled spots this winter

SmartLynx introduces the first freighter registered in Malta
As the latest edition to its growing fleet, SmartLynx is proud to announce the introduction of the first freighter aircraft registered in Malta. The A321F, with the registration 9H-CGA, is the first aircraft of its type to be registered in Malta and is also the first of its type to be introduced to the SmartLynx line-up of A320 and A321 aircraft.

Airlines UK fear imminent collapse over travel restrictions
British air carriers regrouped within the trade body Airlines UK have called for support from their government to help them stay afloat. The trade body is asking the government to amend the current COVID-19 travel rules. As the peak of the summer season approaches, the airlines fear further job losses and deteriorating operations across the sector if travel remains restricted.

Hamad International Airport (DOH) has announced that it has been re-certified by the leading standards body, the British Standards Institution (BSI), for its successful compliance with the safety and hygiene COVID-19 measures that were issued by the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) Civil Aviation Recovery Taskforce (CART).

VINCI Airports launches modernisation of Kansai Airport’s Terminal 1
VINCI Airports and its partner ORIX, concession owners of Kansai International Airport (KIX), have announced the launch of the modernisation works of Kansai Airport’s Terminal 1, the largest works programme since the airport was opened in 1994.
In line with Japan’s tourism strategy and economic development of the Kansai region, the works continue and accelerate the modernisation of Kansai Airport, initiated from the start of the concession in 2016.

RAF F-35Bs lands on HMS Prince of Wales for the first time
As the warship began sea trials, a squadron of Royal Air Force and Royal Navy F-35B Lightning II fighter jets first landed on the Royal Navy’s latest aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales.
The aircraft carrier left Portsmouth naval base on June 6, 2021, to begin a new sea trial. A group of British Army WAH-64 helicopters first landed for the first time on the Prince of Wales, before being joined on June 9, 2021, by the squadron of F-35B fighters.
