With Israel being engulfed with over a hundred rockets emanating from the Gaza Strip, air traffic towards Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv is being redirected towards Greece and Cyprus, Israeli media reported.

Pipeline hacking to affect US airlines fuel supply for days
A cyberattack on May 7, 2021, caused a major fuel pipeline in the United States to shut down, which could force US carriers to find alternatives to refuel their flights.
The facility which belongs to the Houston-based company Colonial Pipeline supplies 45% of the fuel on the Eastern Coast of the United States and directly serves seven airports. Airports in Baltimore, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Nashville have between four to five days of fuel reserve, Andy Lipow, the chairman of the consultancy firm Lipow Oil Associates, told AFP.

Allegiant is hiring 184 pilots in response to increasing travel demand
Allegiant Air plans to hire 184 pilots in the coming months, a nearly 19 percent increase to the company’s current roster of approximately 1,000 pilots.
The new hires are part of the company’s growth strategy to meet increasing demand for air travel. The first group of pilots will begin training in July, with classes scheduled to run every few weeks through early 2022.

Helvetic Airways sets course for the Balearic and Greek islands this summer
Helvetic Airways will serve Kos, Heraklion and Palma de Mallorca in this year’s peak summer season, in collaboration with tour operators Hotelplan Suisse and Universal. Flights will operate from Zurich and Bern between July and October.

SAS starts a new route from Luleå to London
SAS will introduce a seasonal route with non-stop flights from Luleå to London, Heathrow, starting December 17, 2021, to March 21, 2022. Flights will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, and it will be the only direct link between Luleå and the UK.

Air India’s plan to vaccinate its entire staff by the end of May 2021 seems to hang on a threat. The flag carrier of India canceled the crew vaccination process blaming the shortage of supply.
Initially, Air India planned to vaccinate the flight crew and cabin crew members against the COVID-19 virus by holding vaccination camps at Delhi Airport (DEL) on May 11 or May 13, 2021. But on late May 10, 2021, the airline reportedly informed their staff that teh plan was postponed.

The new American start-up airline Breeze Airways has rolled out a new cabin crew recruitment plan. The low-cost carrier offers university students to apply for a cabin crew position in the airline under a temporary contract.
The airline is hiring university students for a cabin crew job outlined in the Breeze Utah Valley University (UVU) Flight Attendant Tuition Reimbursement Plan, which can be found on the airline’s website.

London Heathrow says it is still losing 6.2M passengers, 92% traffic per month
In April 2021, air traffic in London Heathrow Airport (LHR) remained 92.1% lower than before the pandemic, the company outlined in a statement on May 11, 2021. The decline is equal to 6.2 million passengers per month. During the month, 116,000 metric tonnes of cargo traveled through Heathrow, which is a12% decline when compared to 132,000 in April 2019.
