Titan Airways A321 engine failure caused by fuel contamination
Back in February 2020, a Titan Airways A321 aircraft was involved in a serious incident upon departure from London Gatwick. Due to an engine stall, pilots had to declare MAYDAY and make an emergency landing. On March 4, 2021, the UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) issued the final report, explaining what happened on that day.

Hydrogen-powered aircraft will enable emissions-free flying – Airbus executive
Europe’s largest aircraft manufacturer Airbus intends to have the first hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft flying by 2035 and believes the fuel will replace kerosene, ultimately leading to zero-emissions aviation.
That was the prediction of Airbus vice-president of zero-emission aircraft, Glenn Llewellyn, an Irishman directing its “ZEROe” project which has three prototype aircraft in development, all using hydrogen.

FAA warns of corrosion issue on stored Leap-1B engines
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a new airworthiness directive (AD) requiring air carriers to perform checks for CFM International Leap-1B engines on the Boeing 737 MAX Family jets in order to prevent engine corrosion caused by long-storage which might later lead to engine thrust loss.

Malaysia Airlines has made the decision to sell its six Airbus A380s.
Malaysia Airlines CEO Izham Ismail announced the decision with this short statement;
“We’re currently exploring ways of disposing the aircraft. We’re cognizant of the challenges of how to sell the aircraft but we’re exploring ways.”

LATAM to continue transporting COVID-19 vaccines at no cost within the countries where it operates throughout 2021
LATAM Airlines Group reported that it will continue to transport vaccines at no cost within the countries where it operates throughout 2021 through its Solidarity Plane program.
To date, the group has transported over 23.7 million vaccines against COVID-19 within South America, through more than 300 flights in the domestic markets of Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Peru.

Almaty Airport in Kazakhstan joins TAV’s global airport network
Global airport operator, TAV Airports, has officially taken over responsibility for operating Almaty Airport in Kazakhstan.
TAV now owns 85% of Almaty Airport and its associated fuel and catering businesses with the Kazakhstan Infrastructure Fund – managed by VPE Capital and backed by Kazyna Capital Management – holding the remaining 15% stake.

Cambodia’s airports turn to the cloud platform for passenger services
Amadeus has signed a new long-term partnership with Cambodia Airports to provide it with a cloud platform that it believes will make it easier for the operator to realise its strategic vision.
The IT giant is confident that the introduction of it fully integrated cloud platform for airport passenger services at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanouk airports, will allow each to rapidly deploy new passenger handling capacity via the internet as needed.
