Brand new KLM Boeing 777-300ER has been damaged during pushback
A brand new KLM Boeing 777-300ER was damaged during pushback at Amsterdam-Schiphol International Airport on 22 April.
The new Boeing 777-300ER, with registration PH-BVV, was scheduled to depart as flight KL895 to Shanghai-Hongqiao Airport via Seoul-Incheon International Airport. It was a cargo-only flight.

Fiji Airways flight to Auckland has been delayed after a prayer beads has been found in engine
A Fiji Airways flight to Auckland was delayed after prayer beads known as “Rudraksha” was found in one of the engines.
The Airbus A330 was preparing for its flight from Nadi International Airport to Auckland. The prayer garland was found by Fiji Airways engineers undertaking pre-flight inspections.

Etihad Airways has decided to retire its entire fleet of Boeing 777-300ER’s by the end of this year to become more commercially sustainable.

Delta Air Lines orders 25 additional Airbus A321neos
Delta Air Lines has placed a firm order for 25 A321neo (New Engine Option) aircraft. This is in addition to Delta’s 2017 order of 100 A321neo aircraft. These planes will be powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-JM engines.

ETF Airways prepares to take delivery of its first aircraft
ETF Airways (Dubrovnik) is a new airline in Croatia.
The new airline is preparing to take livery of its first Boeing 737-800 (ex-MALEV and S7 Airlines 737-8Q8 registered as 9A-ABC, msn 30667, ex OE-ISA and VP-BDH), leased from AerCap.

JAL Group reduces its domestic network between April 29 – May 31, steps-up its antiviral strategy
The JAL Group has announced further reductions on its domestic network between April 29 and May 31, as the carrier is expecting a slight decline in travel demand in response to the number of COVID-19 cases reported in Japan. In accordance with the conditions of carriage, customers affected by the cancelations will be re-accommodated on an alternative flight.

Can Mango Airlines avoid a May closure?
Mango Airlines, the low-fare subsidiary of South African Airways, is also facing a cash crunch like its parent.
The government had approved a rescue package of parent SAA but the details of further payments to its subsidiaries has not yet been worked out. Payments are now being promised for June.

Green Africa Airways finally takes delivery of its first aircraft
Green Africa Airways has taken delivery of its first aircraft, an ATR 72-600, which will be registered as 5N-GAD. The airliner is leased from ACIA Aero Leasing. Two more are expected to arrive shortly after being painted.

IAG to power 10% of its flights with sustainable fuel by 2030
International Airlines Group (IAG) has become the first European airline group to commit to powering 10 percent of its flights with sustainable aviation fuel by 2030.
The Group will purchase one million tons of sustainable jet fuel per year enabling it to cut its annual emissions by two million tonnes by 2030. This equates to removing one million cars from Europe’s roads each year.

World2Fly’s first Airbus A350-900 takes to the skies
World2Fly (Palma de Mallorca and Madrid), the new Spanish leisure airline, saw its first Airbus A350-900 with the test registration of F-WZHI, perform its first flight (below) over France on April 23. The pictured F-WZHI will become EC-NOI on delivery.

In a financial report released on April 22, 2021, Alaska Airlines recorded its first cash positive month of the year, generating $1 million a day in March 2021, up from hemorrhaging $4 million a day in January and February 2021.

Will HAL AMCA, India’s new fighter jet, belong to 5th or 6th generation?
There are many fighter jet projects currently in development around the world. India’s HAL Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is one of them.
In development since at least 2009, it is intended to enter production some time in the late 2020s and become a full multi-role aircraft to supplement India’s latest jets – HAL Tejas, Dassault Rafale and Sukhoi Su-30MKI – as well as replace a wide array of older ones.

SpaceX launches astronauts to International Space Station
On April 23, 2021, NASA and commercial rocket company SpaceX launched a new four-member crew spaceflight to the International Space Station (ISS), marking the first human mission reusing rocket booster recycled from the previous spaceflights.
