A fight broke out on Tunisair plane due to dispute between passengers
A fight broke out on a Tunisair plane minutes before take-off due to a dispute between passengers over overhead bins allocation.
The fight broke out on Saturday as the aircraft was preparing to operate flight TU216 from Istanbul Airport to Tunis-Carthage International Airport.

United Airlines passengers demand $5 million in compensation
A group of passengers of the United Airlines flight UAL328 has filed a lawsuit claiming that the incident in which the carrier’s Boeing 777-200 suffered an uncontained engine failure while en route from Denver, United States to Honolulu, Hawaii, US, caused them to develop a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Taiwan reports record incursion of Chinese military aircraft
The Taiwanese government reported that 25 Chinese military aircraft entered the country’s air defense identification zone on April 12, 2021, the largest number in a year. It marked the tenth consecutive day of Chinese aerial incursion.

Southwest to recall 2700 flight attendants from voluntary leave
Southwest Airlines has decided to recall over 2,700 flight attendants back to work to support its summer schedule.
The low-cost carrier is recalling flight attendants who chose to participate in its Extended Time-Off Program, a program introduced during the coronavirus pandemic. They will resume work on June 1.

United Airlines to lead industry switch to sustainable aviation fuel with global corporations, customers
United Airlines has made this announcement:

United Airlines continues to lead the industry towards a more sustainable future with the launch of the first-of-its-kind Eco-Skies Alliance SM program. Working with the airline, more than a dozen leading global corporations will collectively contribute towards the purchase of approximately 3.4 million gallons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) this year.

SmartLynx Airlines will be operating charters for TUI Deutschland and Involatus this summer
SmartLynx Airlines will be operating full charters for TUI Deutschland and Involatus. From summer 2021, it will fly to tourist destinations around the Mediterranean and Canary Islands for TUI Deutschland from Basel/ Mulhouse and Saarbrücken airports, as well as to Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Tenerife for Involatus from various German airports in autumn 2021.

Air France-KLM and China Eastern Airlines to reinforce their partnership
In the context of the participation of China Eastern Airlines to the share capital increase of Air France-KLM, both airline groups have decided to extend the scope of their partnership through:
 an intensified commercial cooperation and an extended collaboration to noncommercial related activities (e.g. ground services, catering or maintenance) ;
 an increased footprint on the Beijing market, with the Paris-Beijing and Amsterdam-Beijing routes joining the current Joint Venture existing between Air France-KLM and China Eastern Airlines when conditions are satisfied.

Flypop is a new British long-haul airline. The upstart has announced it has signed a multiple aircraft Airbus A330-300 lease deal with Avolon.
Flypop intends to fly to the ‘Second Cities’ in India: Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Pune, Goa, Cochin and other South Asia cities including Sylhet, Lahore, Islamabad, Sialkot, Colombo, Kathmandu.

Zurich Airport to undertake construction work on runways and taxiways
Zurich Airport (ZRH) has announced that various construction work will start along the runways and taxiways at the airport in spring 2021. These include maintenance works on the flight operations areas, as well as work in connection with the renovation of runway 10/28, which is planned for 2022.
