Aviation Quote

I would attack any squadron blockading a port. Nothing could prevent me from dropping out of the clear blue sky on to a battleship with 400 kilos of explosives in the cockpit. Of course it is true that the pilot would be killed, but everything would blow up, and that's what counts.

- Jules Vedrines, pre-1914.

Thought the story was a little overblown as well. Sounds like a generator failed in flight causing the electrical system to shed some load. Pilots would have then kicked on the APU and restored power to primary systems. Called redundancy, evidently it's either a slow news day or the publication hasn't caught on to the concept yet.

Also interesting was the Lufthansa cargo flight. Maybe an ADIRU failure? I say that due to the altitude and airspeed failures. Good job on the crew of declaring an emergency and RTB. How many times have we seen something like this end in tragedy because the crew dallied about trying to figure out the problem while simultaneously flying the plane into the ground/water?
What's the point of an open door policy if inside the open door sits a closed mind?

APU was probably deferred, they can't be that stupid, right?
And let's get one thing straight. There's a big difference between a pilot and an aviator. One is a technician; the other is an artist in love with flight. — E. B. Jeppesen
