Envoy ERJ Returns To Charlotte With Burning Smell Onboard
On October 2nd, an Envoy Air Embraer ERJ was forced to return to Charlotte, North Carolina, shortly after takeoff. It had been operating an American Eagle flight bound for Shreveport, Louisiana. The crew cited a burning smell as one of the reasons for the return to Charlotte.

PIA Fires 54 More Employees Over Fake Credentials And More
Pakistan International Airlines has sacked 54 more employees over various issues, including fake credentials, bribery, smuggling, and more. The decision comes as the airline undertakes strict accountability checks following a crash in May. PIA has already suspended 150 pilots for possibly using fake licenses.

Air France A330 Suffers Pressure Leak Approaching Paris
On September 25th, an Air France Airbus A330-200 flying from Luanda (Angola) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) experienced a pressurization leak and a gradual loss of cabin pressure. The aircraft had to initiate an early descent, flying at a lower altitude than usual en route to its destination.

Ryanair to order between 150 and 200 737 MAX aircraft ?
Ryanair is reportedly on the verge of signing a deal with Boeing to purchase up to 200 additional Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
The Irish low-cost carrier, which has 135 firm Boeing 737 MAXs on order, is looking to increase its order book by another 150-200 aircraft, reported the Irish Independent.

Malaysia Airlines Group reportedly running out of cash
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent company of Malaysia Airlines, is running out of cash and likely would be unable to fulfill the obligations to its lessors.
In the letter intended for its lessors, seen by Reuters, the struggling company allegedly requested the lessors to step into discounts on issues related to aircraft rental while MAG would run its restructuring plan.

Delta Will Continue To Block First Class Seats Through January

Lufthansa Crosses €3bn Mark In Refunded Tickets This Year
In the face of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Lufthansa has calculated its total reimbursement to passengers this year to be over €3 billion. Constantly changing flight schedules have seen Germany’s largest airline become swamped with refund requests. Lufthansa is currently able to process around 1,700 of these per hour.

United Express Carrier ExpressJet Shuts Down Operations
ExpressJet, one of the operators of United Express, has officially shut down operations this week. United confirmed in July that it planned to shut down one of its regional carriers, choosing to axe ExpressJet. The closure will result in nearly 3,000 employees being laid off in addition to United’s 13,000 employee furlough. CommutAir, another United Express operator, will now operate ExpressJet’s fleet and routes.

ATAC’s Mirage F1 fleet to begin adversary training with USAF
Airborne Tactical Advantage Company (ATAC) announced it received a third contract for adversary air live training, using its fleet of Mirage F1, in a first round of six contracts awarded by the Pentagon. Before the end of October 2020, the company will begin adversary air live training with pilots of the United States Air Force.
