A350-1000 maximum seating rises to 480
Airbus's A350-1000 has been cleared for an increase in maximum accommodation to 480 seats, through the installation of modified exits.
The twinjet had previously been approved for up to 440 seats.

EASA approves P&W-powered A319neo
Airbus has gained European Union Aviation Safety Agency type certification for the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-powered version of the A319neo.
EASA has already certificated the smallest member of the A320neo-family with CFM International Leap-1A engines, approving this version in late 2018.

Russian airframer Irkut has rolled out its fourth MC-21-300 flight-test aircraft from its Siberian manufacturing facilities.
The aircraft is fitted, like its three predecessors, with Pratt & Whitney PW1400G engines.

South African Airways to undergo 'radical' restructuring
South Africa's government is to undertake an extensive restructuring of South African Airways, insisting that it has run out of alternative strategies for the troubled flag-carrier.
The country's department of public enterprises says the loss-making airline has been through "difficult challenges" in the past few years and particularly during the last few weeks – which have included industrial action from two unions.

Aeroflot seeks A350 sale-and-leaseback agreements
Russian flag-carrier Aeroflot is planning to have 11 Airbus A350-900s in service by the end of 2020, following introduction of the type early next year.
Aeroflot Group's directors confirmed the plan during the company's latest board meeting.

Alitalia unions challenge government over nationalisation
Alitalia trade union representatives are urging the economic development ministry to put forward a nationalisation plan for the carrier to end uncertainty over its future.
Transport union FILT-CGIL leader Fabrizio Cuscito claims that minister Stefano Patuanelli has proposed nationalisation as a possible scenario.

Berlin Brandenburg airport is set to open at the end of October 2020, the new hub's operator has disclosed.
It has fixed a date of 31 October 2020 for the long-delayed opening.

Indian authorities have selected the operator of Zurich airport to develop and operate a new airport at Jewar.
The new greenfield airport will be developed under a 40-year concession, says Flughafen Zurich.

APT Pranoto Airport to receive 1,800-panel solar rooftop upgrade
Aji Pangeran Tumenggung (APT) Pranoto International Airport is set to become the first airport within the Indonesian region to utilise solar power; improving on its sustainable operations.
The solar-powered rooftop will be supplied by Total Solar Distributed Generation (DG), a renewable energy provider based in Singapore, and is expected to take six months to install.
