Satellite launch to boost Ku-band services for carriers
The launch of an Intelsat 34 satellite last week will help provide Ku-band satellite broadband services over the North Atlantic. American Airlines and Delta Air Lines both offer Ku satellite connectivity on flights over the region.

Air China Announces a New Code Share Agreement with South African Airways
Air China (CA) has announced a code share agreement with South African Airways (SA) that will enable SA to put its code on CA's newly inaugurated non-stop service between Beijing and Johannesburg as well as points beyond Beijing to Chengdu , Shanghai , Hangzhou and Chongqing.

Delta reports new summer record for on-time departures
Delta Air Lines announced a record on-time departure rate of 96.72% for its summer flight season. From June 4 through August 17, the carrier averaged 3,043 departures a day, a 10% increase from summer last year.

FedEx to formally bid on TNT Express
FedEx Corp. plans to formally place a bid today for TNT Express, based in the Netherlands. "This is an important transaction for FedEx, and the offer represents positive news for all stakeholders," said David Binks, regional president Europe, FedEx Express.

Hainan Airlines Sponsors the 2015 Boeing Classic
The 7-day Boeing Classic is just now underway at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge, a private golf club in Snoqualmie, Washington, 25 miles east of Seattle, at the foothills of the Cascade Range. The event runs from the 17th to the 23rd of August.

Kenya Airways to sell four Boeing 777-200ERs
Kenya Airways has brought in aircraft-remarketing broker Cabot Aviation to sell four of its Boeing 777-200ERs. The aircraft—carrying serial numbers 33681, 33682, 33683 and 36124—were all delivered new to Kenya Airways between 2004-07 and have been used on the carrier’s scheduled network. They are configured with 28 business and 294 economy seats, and powered by Rolls Royce Trent engines.

Avolon Capital Partners acquires an Airbus A321-200 aircraft on lease to Vueling Airlines
Avolon, the international aircraft leasing company, announces that Avolon Capital Partners, Avolon’s joint-venture aircraft leasing business with Wells Fargo, has acquired an Airbus A321-200 aircraft on lease to Vueling Airlines. This is the eighth aircraft to deliver to Avolon Capital Partners.

U.S. airlines invest in first-class amenities
U.S. carriers are investing in amenities for first-class travelers, especially on lucrative transcontinental routes. "We have continued to invest in the people who invest the most in us," said Anthony Black, a spokesman for Delta Air Lines.

DHL to invest $108 million at CVG
DHL plans to invest $108 million in its package delivery operations at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The expansion project at CVG includes adding more warehouse space and up to 16 additional aircraft gates.

UK CAA announces display restrictions following Hunter crash
Following the worst aviation disaster at a UK air show in more than 60 years, the Civil Aviation Authority has announced an immediate package of flight restrictions at future such events. At least 11 people were killed when a Hawker Hunter, which was performing an aerobatic display during the Shoreham air show, crashed on a busy road adjacent to the airfield on 22 August.

Irish Court Grounds Congolese Plane Over Debt Row
An Irish court has grounded a plane owned by Democratic Republic of Congo's new national airline after plaintiffs sought its seizure to recuperate an outstanding debt from the government. Congo's government recently purchased two used Airbus A320s for the launch of Congo Airways, expected before the end of this year.
