Airbus Is Getting Ready For The First Flight Of Its New BelugaXL
Airbus’ cutest new offering, one of six BelugaXL planes, is getting ready to enter service. The super-size transporter aircraft is designed to carry large production parts to Airbus sites across Europe. The first BelugaXL began operations in January of this year. A new BelugaXL aircraft was spotted last week leaving a hangar in Toulouse, France.

Massive Fire Breaks Out At Bombardier Aerospace Facility
Just a few hours ago in Belfast, at 20:45 local time, a massive fire was reported at Bombardier’s manufacturing facilities in the Northern Ireland capital. According to the BBC, the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) received a call and promptly attended the blaze, located on Airport Road, just two miles east of Belfast City Hall. The facility is best known for manufacturing the wings of the Airbus A220.

Air Belgium Joins The Makeshift Freighter Movement
Air Belgium is one of the latest airlines to alter its aircraft to transport cargo more efficiently. In a social media post on Friday, the Belgian carrier shared before and after photos of one of its A340-300s with and without passenger seating. While passenger traffic has dropped drastically since February, airlines around the world have been using their aircraft to transport cargo – both in the hold and in the cabin.

Lufthansa Agrees German Government Aid Package
Lufthansa has announced today that it has reached an agreement to funding under the Economic Stabilization Fund, or Wirtschaftsstabilisierungsfonds (WSF). The package will provide stabilization measures and loans to the airline totaling up to €9bn ($9.8bn). However, it will also see Lufthansa become a partially state-owned airline, with 20% of the company going to Berlin.

Thai Government Reduces Stake In Thai Airways
The Thai Government has sold a 3.2% stake in national carrier THAI Airways according to a filing listed with the SEC on Friday. The stake of 69.2 million shares was sold to the Vayupak 1 mutual fund run by Krung Thai Bank. The government’s stake is now 47.86%, ending THAI Airways’ days as a majority-owned state enterprise.
