Significant loss IMO.

Foreign leaders trembled on occasion when Madeleine was in their grid. She gave no quarter and be damned your position.

Mimi Reinhardt, 107, who was employed as Schindler’s secretary, was in charge of drawing up the lists of Jewish workers from the ghetto of the Polish city of Kraków who were recruited to work at his factory, saving them from deportation to Nazi death camps.

She not famous or well-known, but she did glorious things. We should remember her.

Gottfried died at 2:35 p.m. ET on Tuesday from Recurrent Ventricular Tachycardia due to Myotonic Dystrophy type II, according to Glenn Schwartz, his longtime friend and publicist.

In other words, he died during a very long run of V. tach. The docs either tried and couldn't convert that heart rhythm to a sinus rhythm (the normal heart rhythm), or, his advanced directive (living will) specifically stated not to attempt to resuscitate him.

Orrin Hatch, longest serving Utah Senator, passed away at age 88. Reason not given but old age can certainly be considered. Rose from poverty as a child to serve 6 terms as a U.S. Senator.

He was from an age where politicians of differing stripes could actually sit down and work out compromises to get something for everyone. That is a lost art in today's government at just about every level.
