Penny For Your Aircraft Carrier???

Everything that would not belong anywhere else.

Evidently it is worth it to just give them away rather than maintain them in the mothball fleet....

Two United States naval aircraft carriers, the USS Kitty Hawk and the USS John F. Kennedy, have been sold for one penny each.

While that may sound ominous at first, the ships were not sold to be used but instead taken apart as a Texas firm will break them down to make money from the collected scrap metal.

It would seem like a better deal for the government to sell them for a penny, let the scrapper act as a broker, coming up with the best deal for transportation to the scrap yard, and then minus that cost, take a percentage of the profit for the scrap. But then that makes sense, more than 1 cent....
What's the point of an open door policy if inside the open door sits a closed mind?

I read a different article on this yesterday.

IMO the Gov't got a better deal selling them for a penny than trying to maintain them. Also won't have the technology (what's left of 1950s tech) and design, et al being sold to the highest bidder as the shipyard must dispose of everything it dismantles.

I think it's a good call.
LET'S GO BRANDON!!!!
